All month long we’re talking about closet upgrades and organization.
Remember, if your closet is a disaster, it’s tough to pull your wardrobe together easily.
Swapping your random hangers for a matching set is the easiest and most inexpensive way to upgrade your closet.
Here are my hanger tips:
Slimline velvet hangers keep your clothes in place and save space in your closet. You can go for a fun pop of color, but if you want your closet to look luxe, go for ivory.
Heavy items and knits need wide, sturdy hangers with more structure and heft- they’ll leave less of an indent on your clothes.
I prefer clips over clamps when it comes to hanging pants and skirts, but If you can’t hang pants long in your closet, look for a wide/padded bar to avoid wrinkles.
On the flip side, it’s time to say goodbye to the following:
Plastic tube hangers. Clothes slide around and get wrinkled or fall off, and they make your closet look extremely disheveled. It’s time for grown-up hangers!
Wire hangers. I hate to sound like Mommy Dearest, but “No more wire hangers!” They also leave terrible marks on your clothes.
“Space Saving” gimmicks. Great in theory, but items get hidden and forgotten–and never worn. Plus, they get really heavy, which is not great if your closet bars and shelves aren’t sturdy.
