Hooray!! Today’s the day! @campwinadu here we come!! But reality check because life… my 🔟 year old has been a crying mess for days. The past two pandemic years have wreaked havoc on his independence. The smart mom in me knows he’s going to be fine, but the compassionate side of me wants to hide under the covers and cry with him because I’m going to desperately miss him too. We are so lucky because camp is a privilege that we are blessed to be able to provide for our child, but it’s heart breaking when he says he’s going to miss us too much. Wish me luck over the next three hours as I drive to Fort Lauderdale airport and have to pry my screaming child out of the car and hand off a hot mess to a camp chaperone when we get there. #HalsHotSummer starts at 6.
