This guy. ❤️ I know I’ve been bragging on him a lot lately, but he absolutely deserves it. He’s my number one, and anyone who knows me already knows that. In August, we will celebrate 25 years of marriage. What many people may not know is that when I was 21 years old, during our second year of marriage while he was in dental school, I underwent life-saving heart surgery and had a pacemaker placed. I was diagnosed with a rare heart condition that, unfortunately, many families don’t discover until it’s too late. My doctors agree that it was only through the providence of God that I didn’t become another college athlete statistic. Every year, I travel to Vanderbilt for my annual cardiology appointment. This year was especially emotional because my cardiologist—the physician who saved my life 34 years ago and has cared for me through maintenance surgeries and follow-up procedures ever since—is retiring. We’ve both been dreading this appointment. But somehow, this guy made it fun. He surprised me with an early gift (because he truly listens to everything I say) and turned the day into a date. You may have woken up at 4:30 a.m., worked out, seen 20 patients before lunch, and even held a Zoom meeting while driving us to Nashville, but somehow you still managed to make me feel like the luckiest girl in the world. Now we’re headed home to our babies, and my heart is full. After 25 years, you still make me feel chosen. ❤️ @greene.hammer ~xx your AP cmafest weskippedout dinnerandhome nashvillescma
