Take time for snuggles this season. I feel like December sneaks up on me every year. Thanks to working in retail now, I got a head start on my holiday spirit and I’m not mad about it. The tree was up in October, all my gifts have been ordered and most sent. For the first time in as long as I can remember, I can schedule time to just relax a bit and soak in the season. I always love recounting the past year. This year... maybe I could skip. But honestly it wasn’t all bad. We have bloomed in a lot of new ways. From learning to be a plant lady to building a giant front porch, to homeschooling, we have grown. We miss traveling, we’ve missed a lot of good times with friends local and out of town, but we’ve remained positive, done our best to shield our children from the worst of this year, and have learned to love and respect beyond our own understanding. We also remember the ones we’ve lost, yes, some from Covid. Sadly our family too has not gone untouched from the pandemic.

I’ve talked about my love for expandable totes as a fundamental travel bag before, and this is the bag that made me believe so. In fact I love how roomy and versatile this @stelladot tote that I wore my first one out and just got this new print for Christmas. It’s a great weekender bag or personal carry on for air travel. The expander gives you extra room to bring home those souvenirs you pick up last minute and can’t fit in your carry on. Plus cute prints and it’s easy to clean. My only hold back is that it doesn’t have straps for your carry on, but not to fear Stella has some new travel bags that do. Check it out. It’s one of my favs for sure.

I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately from other folks in social media on how to rise above the haters. Here’s my answer. Realize that their hate says way more about them, than it does about you. When I’m struggling to understand why someone would want to drag me down, I remember that it takes a small person with small thoughts, and small dreams to be threatened by someone else’s success and happiness. Not to mention a lot more time to waste than I do. Surround yourself with those who celebrate you. And receive their wisdom and critique with grace, not insecurity. For those who aren’t investing in you, let the negative comments roll off of you and don’t give them the satisfaction of engaging in their drama. Then you’ll truly rise above.
