Creating a beautiful entry is easy using a simple formula.

Anchor furniture piece (like a credenza) + mirror + lamp + decorative accessories + seating (if room allows).

This credenza was a bit of a splurge a few years ago but I love how it’s unique and brings personality to the space. Buy the things you love and you only have to buy them once!

I don’t know who needs to hear this but Mother’s Day is next weekend!

In my family, we have a (sort of hilarious?) tradition of waiting until the verrrrry last minute to buy something, which results in wrapping a folded up piece of paper in a box to say “surprise, your gift won’t be here for 3 days but here’s what we got you.” We come by this honestly (thanks, dad!)

Using a chest of drawers as your bedroom side tables is a MUST.

Many traditional "night stands" are WAY too short. Think about sitting in your bed. You want to be able to set your drink or a book next to you without leaning down.

Measure the height of the top of your mattress from the floor and aim for a "night stand" that 2-6" taller.

The other reason I love dressers as night stands is all the extra storage and surface area for a lamp and decorative items.

When it comes to entry designs, I like to use a general formula with plenty of room for infusing personality from the homeowners.

When it makes sense, I add chairs, baskets and/or a rug. Use this as your basic guide and then add the pieces you love most!
