The key to bottle acceptance and preventing bottle preference is introducing early, consistently, and in a position that mimics latching. Allowing your baby to control the flow of the bottle with positioning and pacing creates a positive experience and increases chances of bottle acceptance!

One of the most helpful (and easiest) things you can do to help your baby take a bottle more comfortably is changing the nipple shape of the bottle that you are using! There’s so many popular bottles on the market that are made with a small bass and very prominent nipple. Many babies take this type of a bottle without any issues at all, but there are some who struggle with this which makes the bottle feeding experience for them not as enjoyable as it could be.

I always recommend a wide neck bottle with a gradual slope to all of my clients, not just for those who are struggling with the bottle! There are many reasons why I love this type of a nipple including:

🍼 helps promote a deeper latch similar to at the breast

🍼 the gradual slope makes the nipple a little bit more sturdy, which means that it is easier for baby to latch onto. A more prominent nipple can be frustrating for a baby because it often will fold over on itself as they are trying to latch

🍼 these nipples can make it easier for babies who have mild tongue or lip ties that may not need to be corrected but who are still having issues getting that perfect latch

Many babies do great feeding with this type of bottle/nipple but it’s always important to keep in mind that each and every baby is different and have their own preferences! There are MANY bottles on the market so use the bottle that works best for your baby!

I took Sage on her first flight a couple weeks ago!! And to be honest, I was a little bit (actually ALOT) nervous to be traveling with her solo because I usually have my husband there with an extra set of hands to help. The logistics of traveling alone with a small child, whether it be by plane/train/car, is super overwhelming and the amount of stuff they need far exceeds the amount of arms a single person has to carry all the things! Then along comes the Zoe Traveler- this magical, unicorn travel companion that makes me feel like I have everything under control. Holding a baby on one hip? No problem- you can easily collapse/open the stroller with one hand. And it’s lightweight and compact enough to toss into the overhead bin on the airplane.

The Traveler makes solo trips (or any trip!) such a breeze and makes me want to plan another trip ASAP! Where are we off to next Sage?!
