NEW FLOORS! It was an exciting day for the kitchen as it drastically transformed the space. The old floor consisted of cracked old tiles with grout lines that were too dirty to even get cleaned. We used peel & stick vinyl (these are the “Bonneville” pattern in white and charcoal from @wallpops x @chrislovesjulia) that were fairly easy to install, no tools need except to measure the cut offs. My husband is the real MVP for doing all the work

4 RENTER & BUDGET friendly kitchen updates we’ve made so far…

✨New kitchen knobs: I couldn’t believe how big of a difference these made to the cabinets. And after giving the doors a decent wipe down, I love the way now look. I opted for an antique looking one because we’re going towards a classic theme for the overall kitchen aesthetic.
✨Faux soapstone contact paper: this was more of a challenging and time consuming project but with some patience, it was well worth it. The old countertops were old and just blah looking (and no matter how much I cleaned they still looked dirty 🫠). Pro tip: spray the sticky side with all purpose cleaner so it can be easily moved while installing.
✨Peel & stick tile backsplash: I made a Reel about this already and still loving these @smarttiles.official.
✨Magnetic motion sensory lights: this changes the entire mood of the kitchen and they’re rechargeable!

The day started slow, then came a spontaneous Facebook Market find with this beautiful antique Carrara marble top bar/cabinet!! It was stashed away in storage and the owner actually delivered it from Brooklyn. I can’t wait to turn it into a bar/entryway piece with some cute decor piece

First small reveal of the kitchen and I’m beyond pleasantly pleased with how this project came out! It just shows you that just because you’re renting doesn’t mean you have to be stuck with the current backsplash situation.

*LIFE UPDATE* We’re moving back to NYC!!! 🥳🥳🥳 After 9 months of renovating this house and living a laidback life down in Florida, we’re packing all our prized possessions and driving up...this weekend! 😱 The next few days will be super busy—more packing and last minute prep before our FIRST GUESTS arrive (I can’t believe I’m actually saying that). Woke up extra groggy this morning but the day ended up being much more productive than I thought 🤩. Not having a traditional 9 to 5 job means creating routines and stucture for yourself, and not being so hard on yourself when the things on your “to-do” list don’t all get done. Life is indeed too short, and often times we find ourselves living for the what’s-next rather than the right-now.
