Yesterday I got the joy of witnessing my broke bestie Olivia overcome her fear of dogs. It took me back to my childhood. I grew up in Berrien Spring, Michigan. It brought me straight back to my childhood best friend Dominique, whom only lived a few blocks away from my house. I loved hanging out with Dominique. I considered her home my little safe heaven. Plus she loved next to the park. However, Dominique had two dogs and a cat. I definitely was not a fan of animals because we didn’t have them in my African household. Where I come from (Zambia) animals are meant for outside not inside the house. Nique told me if I wanted to keep coming over to her house I had to overcome my fear of animals. To make matters worse Dominique also loved saving animals on the street. I am still shocked to this day that she didn’t become a veterinarian. I was very determined to overcome this fear because I loved being at her place. I eventually overcame my fear of animals because of Dominique. Yesterday had a little full circle of life moment with my niece. Doing the same thing my friend did for me. What fear did you had to over come when you were younger?
