Yes — you can flip an empty nursery container upside down to create extra lift. I’ve done it before, and it works in a pinch.

But I’ve found they can shift over time, especially with heavier plants or after watering. The last thing I want is movement inside a planter that’s holding a big, heavy plant.

I prefer using something built to handle the weight — it feels more secure, more intentional, and it comes in multiple sizes so you can match it to different pots and plants.

Your new fiddle leaf fig deserves the best start — and it all begins before it even comes inside.

Here are the 3 things I always do first:

1️⃣ Check and refresh the soil. Bad soil = unhappy fiddle. Soak the root ball, remove the old soil, and repot into fresh well-draining soil with good drainage.
2️⃣ Clean the leaves. Soak, clean, and wipe them down so they can actually breathe and absorb light.
3️⃣ Don’t prune just yet. I know it’s tempting but wait 4 to 6 weeks — pruning too soon will stress it out.

Once it’s pest-free, it comes inside immediately and finds a bright indirect light spot. 🌞

Save this for the next time you bring home a fiddle leaf fig. 🌿

Bringing three rubber trees together in one planter sounds bold. It can work. But only if you set them up right.

Start with the roots
Rinse off that heavy nursery soil. It holds too much moisture and can lead to root rot. Clean roots give you a fresh start.

Use the right planter
Go wide and deep so each tree has space. This is what gives you that full, sculptural look.

Build a chunky soil mix
• Fox Farm organic soil
• Perlite
• Orchid bark

This combo drains fast and keeps roots healthy.

Add support early
Use a pole and soft Velcro ties. This helps train the trees to grow upright and together from day one.

Place with intention
Space the trees evenly. Think balance, not crowding. Fill in with your mix as you go.

Secure and finish
Gently tie the trunks for stability. Keep it snug, not tight.

That’s it. Now you have one full, statement plant instead of three separate ones.
