SATURDAY SELF CARE — This is what my version of self care looks like. 🤍
There are 1000 other things I should be doing right now. I should be doing laundry and picking up the house, cleaning dishes, etc. I should be prepping this, putting that away, or doing pretty much anything and everything “mom related.” But right now, I’m not.
When I first had Quinn, I was terrible at taking time for myself. Instead of resting and reseting, I pushed myself to “get it all done.” I considered a long shower self care and felt guilty when I did that. Mamas, when did cleaning ourselves constitute as self care?! ✋🏻🛑
When Lucy was born, I realized that the balancing act of kids, house work, my job, and everything else required a shift. I had to learn how to take time for me.
This morning, Adam woke up, took the girls and sent me on my way. I grabbed a coffee, masked up for a manicure, and wandered Target, alone. I came home, we went to the park as a family, and now I’m here. Both my girls are napping, I am watching Sex and the City, blogging and drinking a cold brew. ☕️
For me, self care doesn’t always mean hours upon hours alone or doing anything fancy. Most of the time, it’s a quick hour alone to rest and reset.
