That perfect paint color. ✨ It feels like such a simple thing, yet it can be agonizing to stand in front of the sea of swatches at the store, tape them on your walls, and stand back, trying to find the one that’s *just* right. Humble brag here, but I think we nailed it in Lyla’s bedroom makeover. We went with @benjaminmoore Melted Ice Cream and I had it lightened by 50% to get that perfect barely-pink shade. While she wanted a full-on Disney princess room, we knew we needed colors and decor that could grow with her and outlast any one current phase. It’s an exciting day now that I can finally reveal the final results a project that’s been in the works here in the Hendrick house for months: our Classic Rustic & Coastal Primary Bathroom Makeover! Their clean, modern, coastal vibe caught my attention immediately and I wanted to channel that in our bathroom renovation. Our front porch is coming along into such a cozy spot! We’re patiently waiting on a porch swing bed, but the addition of these chairs (now sold out) with the poufs (linked in stories) has made this the place where we often hang out in the evenings and where the kids take fresh air breaks between Zooms. We’ve had our bed for several years but it took a bit of a search to find the perfect dressers! I love these— they’re not only beautiful but solid wood and sturdy with fairly deep drawers. These are almost a perfect match to the stain and they’re on sale this weekend. We have both the wide and tall versions in the graywash. The past few weeks have been filled with family time, which is my favorite of all! We brought the kids on a trip over their February break and it was nice to be able to come home and see our house through fresh eyes! Now we’re ready to tackle some new projects. I just realized I have never shared our kids’/guest bath here! We started this project about a year ago, since it was the bathroom that was leaking water into the old kitchen. We pretty much gutted the room, and other than the plaster it was a complete DIY. Also, we know when to throw in the towel— this was our last tile project. Happy Halloween! I hope it was a safe one for you. How was the weather where you are and what did your kids dress up as? I’ve heard that it was crazy weather almost everywhere! Here it was warm/humid and raining. Other years we’ve had snow. 🤷🏻‍♀️ The kids had fun anyway— you can see their silly costumes in my stories! . I’m working on gathering up some sources for the kitchen remodel! It’s more challenging than I expected since I’ve been buying things over the course of a year! I go back and forth on the gallery wall. Some days I love it, others I think I may want to eventually put one piece of statement art there (like a large coastal or abstract painting). The #breakfastnook is hands down my favorite room in our home. In our upcoming renovation, I’m not sure I’m going to change a thing. One happy thing that will change: the new ceiling will be smooth! 🙌🏻 That textured plaster absorbs so much light and holds dust. It makes me crazy! I had never seen it before we bought this house and every single ceiling and closet had it. Not a big problem in the grand scheme of problems, but it has made such a big difference to have smooth plaster ceilings in the rooms we’ve made over! After more than five years, our DIY Powder Room was ready for a refresh! The biggest change was a larger mirror that worked better with the scale of the vanity. The rest of the details were tiny ones, but they added up to an overall change that I’m very happy with! 🌿 P.S. Just before Christmas we made some simple changes to our #diningroom. We kept all of our furniture, which was our first big purchase after we got married almost ten years ago. I still love it so much! We also kept the light fixture, which is still a favorite. One thing that went, though, was the chalkboard. While I liked the look, it was a lot of pressure to come up with artwork each season. 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ Now I’m all about the low pressure wall decor.
