Two years ago when you-know-what hit and our kids moved to virtual learning, I decided to make a dedicated space for my daughter to work from. I started with two nightstands that were in the guest room. Then I made a faux marble tabletop using an old IKEA shelf we had leftover from our living room project. I started by painting two coats of black on the shelf. Then using a feather, sponge, spray bottle, and a small paint brush, tried to paint a marble pattern. I hated the first round, so we repainted it and tried again. Then added two coats of polyurethane on top. Then we mounted a sconce, added a fabric pinboard and a couple of acrylic shelves, put down a rug, and made this cute little workstation that served her well.
