Solo travel day with a toddler!! & day 4 of three weeks traveling with the baby! Night before: say bye to dada, next morning 5am wake up & get ready, drive to airport, drop bags at curbside check in (!!!), flight, get car, check in & unpack / get organized for the week, rainy walk and afternoon coffee, Whole Foods, cozy dinner in the room. This was a big one and I’m so proud of us both.

Traveling with kids doesn’t have to be chaotic. As a mom who has taken my almost 4-year-old to 9 countries and all over the US, these are the 5 non-negotiables that have made every trip smoother, happier, and way more enjoyable.

1. The 3-Night Rule
If we’re visiting multiple cities or countries, we stay at least 3 nights in each place.

Anything less feels rushed with kids.

✨Why it works: Kids move slower in new environments. Three nights allows time to settle in, sleep well, explore without rushing and avoid the “go-go-go” stress.

2. Prioritize Sleep Setup
Good sleep = good trip.

We always pack something that mimics sleep at home:
• Slumber Pod
• Pack n Play
• Travel mattress

Naps might happen on the go (or get skipped), so protecting nighttime sleep makes everything smoother for everyone.

3. A Kitchen is a Must
With younger kids, we always book places with a kitchen.

✨Why: Food = mood.

We do a grocery run the first day so we can:
✔️ pack snacks
✔️ make quick meals
✔️ leave early for fishing, exploring or tours without stressing about restaurants

4. Invest in a Great Travel Stroller
If you plan to explore a lot, a good stroller is a game changer.
Look for one that is:
• lightweight
• folds easily
• reclines
• has storage + snack tray
The more comfortable your kid is, the easier your day goes.

5. The Snack + Activity Bag
Leaving without one is like leaving your house without your phone.

This little bag can save your sanity on planes, long trips, restaurants, or unexpected delays.
Always pack:
✔️ snacks
✔️ small toys
✔️ activity book
