The Launch Date by Annabelle Slator ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was so cute. I loved the slow burn, coworkers to lovers, enemies to lovers & overall joy of this book. I found that the chemistry was evident from page 1, although it took a LONG time for both characters to admit their feelings. Even then, I liked that they did not dive in head first, but instead kept to their own priorities & let the relationship happen slowly, maybe too slowly. The book was so engaging and the characters were the type that I want to meet in real life. I loved the push & pull, their personalities & the fun plot. Honestly, just a very well done & enjoyable book - there was personal growth, professional growth and relationship growth - from both parties, which is always fun to see! Grace & Eric work for a dating app, they were once good friends turned enemies, who now have to work on a project together. As they go on date after date, they start to realize that they may not be enemies after all. A really fun one!

The Snowbirds by Christina Clancy ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Have you ever read a book & when it ended you asked yourself if anything actually happened? That was this book for me. This book follows the ups and downs of a long term relationship... & what happens when their children grow up & the life that they once knew changes. Part missing person, part flashbacks, part reflection of a life lived. I enjoyed the audiobook of this more than the ebook - I thought the narrator was great. I enjoyed the story being about an older couple & the natural & normal ups & downs of life. However, I found that not enough happened making the book move very slowly. I also found the female character to be unlikeable - she was whiny and selfish and rubbed me the wrong way. Parts of this book worked very well for me, while others fell short of what I expected.

The Business Trip by Jessie Garcia ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I loved parts of this book and hated other parts, which really confused me! I loved the parts about Stephanie and Jasmine. Their perspective of their current life, their friends and co-workers POV when they disappeared. I really thought it was fascinating and well done how different people viewed similar things so differently. And handled things so differently. I truly despised Trent from the start and did not like his POV at all. I skimmed through the entire middle of the book. It just felt very mechanical and forced, where the earlier POVs of the book were engaging and interesting. I thought the ending was farfetched, by fine. I didn’t really have complaints, but it took work to read through the middle 30-40% of the book. Overall, a fascinating and interesting psychological thriller that definitely kept me on my toes and threw some fun twists and turns into the book.

Stephanie and Jasmine are on the same plane, but that is where their similarities end. Then they both send similar messages to friends about a man, Trent, before they go missing. What happened to these women? Or what did they do to Trent?

Sweet Fury by Sash Bischoff ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Such a roller coaster of feelings towards this book. I honestly did not realize that this was a mystery until a solid 75% of the way through the book, so I obviously did not guess the ending. I enjoyed the connection to Fitzgerald and the Hollywood glamour of this book. The twists and turns were incredibly well done. I also thought that the multiple points of view - and the different ways that these points of view were shared was different and enjoyable. However, I did feel like the book was very unnatural and unrealistic at points. Sometimes that can work for a book, it being so far out there that it makes sense, but since this book was not that way, it just did not always feel like a smooth transition to me. Overall, I enjoyed the plot, the twists and turns were very well done and I thought that the characters, although beyond frustrating, were well developed and interesting. Lots of secrets unfolded, which added to the fun of the book.

All The Water In The World by Eiren Caffall ⭐⭐⭐

I was excited to read this one given the dystopia / post-apocalyptic aspects of the storyline. I was also interested in the climate change theme as well. However, I was really bored, and the story did not hold my interest. There wasn’t enough action going on and the pace was way too slow for my liking. I found my mind wandering off. I also never fully connected with any of the characters. I listened to the audiobook and found the narrator very monotone. Unfortunately, this one was not for me.

The Lost House by Melissa Larsen ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I really struggled to engage with this book. I switched between the audio and ebook and neither of them clicked. The book moved very slowly, too slowly for a mystery in my opinion. I started to get bored during many different parts of the book. It felt like nothing was actually happening through the majority of the book and I was able to guess the ending pretty early on. The book was very repetitive which only added to my frustration. All that being said, the setting of this story is CREEPY!! Seriously, the perfect setting for any thriller/mystery. A dark, snowy and remote town in Iceland gives the chill factor. The descriptions were incredibly well done, making me feel like I jumped right into the book. I feel like some of the pieces were there to make for a creepy read, but unfortunately other parts fell flat. Very mixed reviews on this one, so I would love to hear your different thoughts!

Agnes just lost her grandfather, who decades earlier fled from Iceland with his young son when his wife and daughter were murdered. When Nora, a podcast personality, wants to interview Agnes, she packs up and heads to Iceland, where a girl has coincidentally gone missing. Together they work to uncover secrets, both past and present, to help solve these cases.

Cross My Heart by Megan Collins ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It is usually difficult for a psychological thriller/mystery to surprise me, but this one did. Although I guessed the ending, the twists and turns along the way were completely unexpected. I thought the storyline was really well done, creepy, realistic and enjoyable to read. The main character and supporting cast were all really well done. I never knew who I should like or dislike, trust or not trust. I disliked them all at different points of the book. Rosie is desperate to find the one. After being left in her wedding dress, and needing an emergency heart transplant, she knows that every day is a gift. When she starts to suspect that her heart donor was the wife of a famous author, Morgan, she starts messaging him on DonorConnect. As they communicate and begin sharing personal details, Rosie begins to wonder if Morgan played any part in his wife’s tragic death. A book that was difficult to put down, well written, twists and turns and a character that sucks you into their life.

Definitely Better Now by Ava Robinson ⭐⭐⭐⭐

What a great book to start off the new year! I read this one quickly as I couldn’t put it down. The story begins with Emma who is about to celebrate her 1 year of being sober. What goes through her mind as a recovering alcoholic, as someone who has tried to separate herself from her alcoholic father, and as someone who is trying to put herself back out there while navigating a new world. As someone who has not had to battle with alcoholism, it was eye opening to see all the times that they may feel uncomfortable in different situations. Parts of this book felt raw and real. I loved that this story showed that life can be messy, life can be difficult, and life can be good all at the same time. I cried and laughed alongside Emma. While there was a romance in the storyline, it wasn’t the main focus, which I appreciated. The execution was spot on! This was Robinson’s debut novel, and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!
