My mama’s old-fashioned chocolate pound cake… with a little Easter twist 🐣🤍

This is one of those recipes that’s been in our family for years—rich, chocolatey, perfectly dense, and topped with the most dreamy fudgy frosting. This year I added a little fun with Cadbury mini eggs (half whole, half chopped) folded right into the batter and sprinkled on top while the frosting is still warm… and y’all… it is SO good. That little crunch with the soft cake is everything.

If you’re looking for an easy Easter dessert that feels nostalgic but a little elevated, this is it 🤍

I’m sharing the full recipe in the comments below so you can save it for your Easter table!

I’m going to start sharing what I eat most mornings for breakfast.

Because during the week — when we’re trying to get out the door — quick, easy, healthy, and delicious can feel like a tall order.

Truth is… I eat some version of eggs and sourdough toast almost every weekday of my life. 🥚
When you have fresh eggs from your girls, you use them.

Weekends are for biscuits around here.
But during the week? This is it.

Same simple foods. Just prepared in different ways to keep them interesting and still so good.

This plate comes in around:
• ~500 calories
• ~40g protein
• Balanced carbs + healthy fats

It keeps me full for hours and feels like real food — not a diet.

If you’re watching fat intake, skip the olive oil and use a light spray.
If you’re watching carbs, leave off the sourdough.
It’s flexible and easy to adjust to fit your needs.

Linking my everyday breakfast staples — favorite skillet, Maldon salt, olive oil, and sourdough tools 🤍

Healthy. Flavorful. Simple

I focus on getting my protein in every day — and I start at breakfast— but not in a boring way.

This simple breakfast comes in around 500 calories with almost 40g of protein and keeps me satisfied for hours.

2 whole eggs + 2 whites
½ cup 4% cottage cheese (or tangy goat cheese)
1 slice sourdough
Cherry tomatoes
Drizzle of EVOO + Maldon salt

Linking my favorite sourdough tools, olive oil, Maldon salt, and everyday kitchen staples 🤍

Healthy and flavorful can absolutely live on the same plate.

Cozy slow cooker dinner → next day sandwich magic 🤎

This Mississippi Drip Dip Sandwich is one of those cozy, melty, gravy-dippin’ meals that feels like Sunday supper all over again.

I’m linking my crockpot, favorite chuck roast seasonings, skillet, and a few of my everyday kitchen staples I always reach for when making this recipe.

If you love easy slow cooker dinners that turn into next-day magic… this one’s for you.

For the Mississippi Pot Roast:

• 3–4 lb chuck roast
• 1 packet ranch dressing mix
• 1 packet McCormick Onion Gravy mix
• 1 packet McCormick Au Jus mix
• 1 jar sliced pepperoncini (reserve juice)
• 1 stick butter
• 2 cups water

Place roast in crockpot. Top with dry seasonings, butter, half the sliced pepperoncini, all of the pepperoncini juice, and water.

Cook on LOW 6–8 hours until fall-apart tender. Shred and keep warm in the juices.

⸻

For the Sandwich:

• 6 onion rolls (or your favorite sandwich roll)
• Mayonnaise
• 6 slices Provolone cheese
• Extra pepperoncini
• French fried onions

Toast rolls in a skillet with a little butter. Spread with mayonnaise, add provolone, pile high with pot roast, top with more pepperoncini and French fried onions.

Serve with warm pot roast gravy on the side for dipping.

Enjoy 🩵

My newest sourdough bread experiment turned into my favorite loaf yet 🤍

During shaping (after bulk fermentation), I gently flattened the dough, layered in completely cooled roasted potatoes + onions, added crumbled Boursin, then folded and shaped tightly. Cold ferment overnight in the fridge and bake in a preheated Dutch oven as usual.

It baked up soft, flavorful, and perfectly structured.

Tips for bread baking with inclusions:
• Make sure fillings are fully cooled
• Avoid excess moisture
• Don’t overfill
• Seal your dough well during shaping

If you’ve ever eaten at a barbecue place anywhere in the South, you’ve probably seen a hickory tater on the menu 🤍

Here’s how we make them at home…

Big baked russet potatoes, chopped smoked pork (or grab some from your local BBQ spot), shredded cheddar, and that creamy dressing piled right on top.

It’s an easy dinner idea, perfect for BBQ night, game day, or a cozy weeknight meal.

I’ve linked the kitchen tools and favorites I use to make it simple.
