This tradition started when my kids were little, and now I get to enjoy it with the grandbabies too — pure Christmas magic every single year.

Pro tip: buy the prebuilt gingerbread houses. Just trust me on this one 😉 It makes the whole day easier, especially with littles.

A little Christmas magic from our gingerbread house party ✨🍪
I added this $19 Mickey Mouse Christmas train around the dessert table and it was the HIT of the night. The kids couldn’t stop watching it go ‘round + it was the cutest festive touch for any holiday party or Christmas décor setup. 🚂🎄

Handmade ornaments… does it get any sweeter? 🤍
These are my FAVORITE treasures on the tree every single year. My girls take the lead on this tradition, and I just help and provide the food 😉. They gift these little handprints + footprints to all the grandparents, but honestly… the greatest gift is the time together making memories.

I’m linking everything we use for this tradition — the baking supplies, the tools, the ribbon, and even our matching Christmas pajamas (a must for a night like this 🎄💕).

Bessie & Co. Salt Dough Ornament Recipe
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup salt
1 cup warm water (add more if needed)
Optional: 1–2 tbsp cinnamon for a warm tan color
Optional: 3–5 drops child-safe essential oil (vanilla, cinnamon, or orange)

How to Make:
• Mix flour, salt + optional cinnamon. Stir in warm water and optional essential oil.
• Knead 5–7 minutes until smooth.
• Roll ¼ inch thick and press in tiny hands or feet.
• Cut out shapes and poke a ribbon hole with a straw.
• Bake at 225°F for 2–3 hours, flipping halfway, until dry.
• Cool fully. Seal with Mod Podge or leave natural.

These ornaments age right along with the babies… and pulling them out each Christmas is the sweetest reminder of time well spent. 🎄🤍

My very large farmhouse table got a Christmas makeover 🎄
After painting our kitchen cabinets a rich navy this year, I added little pops of blue into my holiday tablescape. The blue berries + blue & white tablecloth tie everything together beautifully with the classic red and green.

Pro tip: mix your greenery! I layered cedar + pine in a big wooden tray to keep the centerpiece low so guests can see each other. Add a simple charger, your favorite Christmas plate, and a folded napkin—and you’ve got an easy, elevated holiday table.
