A little dining room reset from winter into Valentine’s Day 💗 I couldn’t bring myself to pack away the tree, so she’s officially getting dressed for every season and whim from here on out. This table came together using what I already had in my hosting closet — mostly vintage, all thrifted, all pieces I truly love. A pink milk glass cake plate became the centerpiece, layered with an antique chocolate pot, an old gravy boat, and a pink depression glass cup stacked on vintage floral saucers. Chocolate croissant sourdough might be my favorite loaf yet 🤎 Flaky, buttery layers with melty chocolate in every bite… and yes—it’s as good as it looks. Linking my everyday kitchen favorites + my go-to sourdough tools 🥖✨ Recipe: Rich, buttery sourdough with delicate, flaky layers and ribbons of melted chocolate Makes 2 loaves ⸻ Starter Feed    •   125 g warm water    •   125 g flour Mix and let rise until doubled and bubbly. ⸻ Dough    •   200 g active starter    •   650 g warm water    •   50 g olive oil    •   1000 g bread flour    •   4 tsp salt ⸻ Chocolate Layer    •   1–1½ cups chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (semi-sweet or dark works beautifully) ⸻ Instructions 1. Activate Starter Feed starter and let rise until doubled and bubbly. 2. Mix Dough In a large bowl, combine active starter, warm water, and olive oil. Stir well, then add flour and mix until combined. 3. Rest Cover with a tea towel and let rest in a warm place for 1 hour. 4. Add Salt Sprinkle in salt and mix thoroughly until fully incorporated. 5. Second Rest Cover and let rest another 45 minutes. 6. Stretch & Folds Perform 4 sets of stretch and folds, 30 minutes apart. ⸻ Create Croissant-Style Layers 7. Gently stretch dough into a rectangle on a floured surface. 8. Sprinkle chocolate evenly across the dough. 9. Fold dough over itself (like laminating), layering chocolate between folds. 10. Shape into loaves. ⸻ Final Rise Cover and let rise until puffy and airy. ⸻ Bake    •   Preheat Dutch oven to 475°F    •   Score dough    •   Bake 25 minutes covered    •   Lower oven temp to 450 , Remove lid, bake additional 20 minutes until golden brown 👉 Place a cookie sheet on the bottom rack to prevent over-browning on the bottom ⸻ Finish Cool completely before slicing (if you can wait 😉) Notes Expect a tender, buttery crumb with light layering—reminiscent of a croissant with a rich chocolate twist. They gift these little handprints + footprints to all the grandparents, but honestly… the greatest gift is the time together making memories. I’m linking everything we use for this tradition — the baking supplies, the tools, the ribbon, and even our matching Christmas pajamas (a must for a night like this 🎄💕). Bessie & Co. Salt Dough Ornament Recipe 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup salt 1 cup warm water (add more if needed) Optional: 1–2 tbsp cinnamon for a warm tan color Optional: 3–5 drops child-safe essential oil (vanilla, cinnamon, or orange) How to Make: • Mix flour, salt + optional cinnamon. Stir in warm water and optional essential oil. • Knead 5–7 minutes until smooth. • Roll ¼ inch thick and press in tiny hands or feet. • Cut out shapes and poke a ribbon hole with a straw. • Bake at 225°F for 2–3 hours, flipping halfway, until dry. • Cool fully. Seal with Mod Podge or leave natural. First “workout” post-surgery — and it looked a lot different than it used to. Breast cancer, a double mastectomy, and being in the middle of reconstruction have changed what my body can do right now… but they haven’t changed my desire to move. Today was simple: a steady walk on the treadmill and lots of slow mobility work. No heavy weights. No pushing limits. Just listening to my body and giving it what it could handle. And here’s the reminder I needed (and maybe you do too): 👉 Every little bit counts. 👉 Movement doesn’t have to be intense to be powerful. 👉 Taking care of yourself — in whatever season you’re in — matters so much for your body and your mind.
