Banquette Farm Tables | When choosing a table for a banquette, you want the least amount of leg interference as possible - so traditional four-leg tables usually aren't an option. These farm tables are all great options, as the tabletop overhang allows you to enter and exit the banquette easily.

How tall should your side table be? The general rule of thumb is the table should be within 2 inches of the sofa or chair arm. This ensures it's easy to reach and place items on the table without straining.

If you have armless furniture, the table should be within 2 inches of the seat height. For example, if your sofa's arm is 22" tall, a proper end table can be anywhere from 20" – 24" tall.

Confused about bar stools versus counter stools? Don't worry; the main difference is their height! Counter stools typically range from 24"-26" high, while bar stools are taller, usually around 30"-32". The key is to leave about 8"-10" of space between the top of your stool seat and the underside of your counter or bar for comfortable seating.

Rectangular Dining Tables for 4: easy-to-follow measurements and a round-up of my favorite tables for four guests.

My general rule of thumb for determining the number of chairs for a dining table is to allow 24” x 15” per place setting, including the flatware, glassware, and a plate. The elbow room matters more than the width of the chair.

Remember to factor in the placement of table legs when determining a dining table's seating capacity. The tabletop's dimensions alone may not accurately represent the available seating space if the legs are positioned awkwardly or at an extreme angle.
