Holiday 2024

The best of fashion and stylish gifts

You loved my video on my favorite fair isle sweaters, so here are a few more.

January is the perfect time for these sweaters - they carry on a bit of “festive” from December and they fit the cold and snowy season!

I love talking about sequins, velvet and all things holiday this time of year…but what about simple holiday jeans outfits? I’ve got several for you, especially if you’re over 50!

Like probably many of you, my family dresses pretty casually for the holidays - we all just want to be comfortable. But you CAN be comfortable and festive as well. (No Spanx needed here!). I’m sharing looks with multiple styles of jeans - from colored jeans like ivory and black, to classic denim and to even pearl embellished jeans. You can make all of them festive with just the right tops.

It’s silver and gold time! If not for the holidays, then definitely for New Year’s Eve! I’ve put together my favorite collection of tops and accessories to easily create your look!

We interrupt this crazy time of shopping, wrapping and planning for a cozy photo moment.

I love a classic sweater dress and I especially love one in winter white. I think it just screams holiday (ok, the background may help a little bit!).

My dress is from macys but unfortunately it is sold out. However, I did find 10 similar dresses that I’ve put on my LTK page in case you’re interested in creating a similar look. I included my boots and bag as well.

For all my ladies who just want to wear black……I hear you! This is for you.

We all know that black can be elegant but it can be festive too. Try a fun holiday sweater (that you can wear all winter long) or add some pearl embellisments, either on the top itself or add some fun pearl jewelry.

Don’t forget the metallics as well. You can find a metallic top or go all black and add some metallic accents in your shoes or bag. And lastly, the easiest…add some faux fur cuffs to a basic turtleneck. Stick with black for a subtle look or go with white or another color for a fun pop of color.

It’s “Silver & Gold” season….and not just because the song comes from my favorite holiday TV show!

What I love about silver and gold is that while they are great for the holidays, you can wear them for celebrations all year long. I especially love these looks for New Year’s Eve as well.

You don’t have to go “all in” on silver and gold. If a gold sequin top is too much for you, go with a metallic belt or bag, just to add a “celebratory” feel to your outfit. When deciding whether gold or silver is best for you, think of your skin tone. In general, cool tones will look better in silver and warm tones better in gold. If you have a neutral skin tone, you can really wear either.

Here is one of five of my collages on how to get that Hallmark Christmas movie look. Look for four other colors: Blue/Sage, Pink/Purple, Yellow/Orange and Burgundy/Camel.

See them all here on my LTK page.

Have you ever noticed all the beautiful coats in every Hallmark Christmas movie? I know I have!

I have put together five different collages of every color you can think of! I also wrote a blog post where I have even more options! Check them out here in my LTK page or in my website, dianneinstyle.com

I truly couldn’t decide between them, so I got both. These boots are so perfect for this time of year that I just had to share my “dilemma”.

The good news is that they are only $43 on Amazon right now, so I didn’t have to feel guilty about buying two pairs. Even though the plaid pair are a little more holiday looking, they still can be worn all winter long.

I would style each of these booties with both pants and skirts/dresses. I think they would look especially cute with a sweater dress. These are the kind of inexpensive pieces I like to have on hand because “when you need them, you need them”. They are not something you can run to the store quickly and pick up. So, for the price, I will have them and actually plan an outfit around them! I love doing that.

Are you looking for a new holiday color to add to your wardrobe? Then look no further than PURPLE!

Purple is such a fun and festive color and one that most people can wear with their skin tone, especially since there are som many shades to pick from!

I’ve got lots of purple options for you - many that were in my recent “Purple” video. Make sure to check them out!

#LTKHoliday #LTKStyleTip
It doesn’t hurt that purple is my favorite color….but I think you will love it too.

Don’t get me wrong - I love traditional red and green, but purple is such a nice change of pace. I think it creates an elegant and timeless look. I especially love seeing purple in velvet and faux fur, it’s so regal!

It is also a color that I think most people can wear, no matter your skin tone. There are so many different shades from light lavenders to deep amethysts - there is surely one that would suit your style!

Every once in a while you have to build an entire outfit around one piece - and for me it’s this amazing blouse! I kept my pants and shoes simple because I wanted all the attention on this top. Perfect for the holidays - I love it.

I bought my usual size but I could have sized up - it’s a little form fitting but fits nicely!

My gift guides are a little bit different- they are all for the fashionista- either yourself or a fellow fashion lover. I do these just for fun!

My favorite in this page has got to be the Miranda Priestly ornament if you’re a fan of “The Devil Wears Prada”.

Here’s how to take a basic red dress and turn it into multiple holiday looks!

This is actually Part 2 of accessorizing this red dress for the holidays - that’s because the possibilities are endless. In my first video, I shared fur cuffs, a bow belt and a neckerchief. That’s now six looks for one dress. And it’s a dress you can wear all year long.

Changing the accessories can make it perfect for any occasion! (I already see Valentine’s Day in the future!)

One pair of sequin pants, three looks!

I can’t believe I was “afraid” to wear sequins in the past because now I love them, especially as pants! I think wearing them as pants gives you so many styling options in both top style and color. Add a bright red for the holidays and go all black for New Year’s Eve!
I am not a conservative dresser, but for some reason it took me over 50 years to be ready to wear sequins!

I used to think that maybe they were too “loud” for me, but I have totally changed my mind about them. This pair of sequin pants from Old Navy are a great place to start. I like having the sequins as a bottom – I think that gives you more styling options. Also, if you’re a little hesitant as I was to try sequins, I think wearing them as a bottom is a little less intimidating compared to having them up by your face. I would definitely try wearing a sequin skirt as well!

Yes, this velvet jumpsuit IS from Target!

It may seem a little early to be talking about velvet since it’s not even Thanksgiving, but when I find an awesome piece like this which is just $40 and is in stock in sizes XS - 4X, the time to share is now!

This is an example of the kind of pieces that I like to pick up when I see them and have them in my closet even though I don’t have a plan yet on where to wear them. The price is key, of course, because I could spend the same amount at Starbucks in a month. But the biggest reason is the classic styling. This jumpsuit is something that I can wear for years to come. With it being such a classic, I will be able to style it in different ways, so I will be able to make it look fresh each season. I don’t feel it’s a risk at all to buy it without a plan.

The other reason is the availability of sizes. Now is the time to get the right size for you. I had ordered my usual size but then found I needed to size down and luckily that size was available. This is the opportunity to find the perfect fit. Because the last thing you want to happen is for a holiday party to pop up and now you’re scrambling to find something to wear and have to “settle” for something that doesn’t fit quite right.

Lastly, with most retailers having holiday return policies that extend into January right now, you can always buy it, keep the tags on and the receipt and if you don’t wear it, you can still return it after New Year’s Eve is over. But it can take the stress of worrying about finding something if that unexpected holiday party pops up!

Christmas is coming quickly and why not be prepared with a cozy sweater set? Whether it’s to be cozy entertaining overnight guests or just sipping coffee on Christmas morning, a sweater set is a great option for a comfy and chic look.

My sweater set sold out, but I have links to one that is just as cozy!

If you saw my video, the. You know I am loving these faux leather pants from Boston Proper. I love the bootcut style and it inspired me to style them with classic tops for a chic look.

One simple red dress, three ways to make it a holiday dress in an affordable way.

It seems that we’re always on the lookout for a new holiday look - you want to be able to feel which year it is in the photos, right?

Taking a basic red dress that you can wear all year long and adding som holiday accessories is a quick and easy way to give you multiple holiday looks!

I am intentionally calling this a “Gift & Style Guide” because it is designed to say “one for her, one for me”.

All of these bags make great gifts - they are all under $100 and are a bit unique but still easy to pick as a gift.
