𝗜𝘁‘𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗶𝘁... One of my best friends for over 30 years said this to me during our long overdue telephone date. Being that she’s an expert in career placement her words resonated with me. I spent 14+ years in a career in fashion and retail operations but when my career ended I honestly felt like I knew absolutely nothing. Every job description I read felt foreign to me. I doubted whether my skills were actually transferable. Imposter syndrome is a real thing and I had the worst case of it. HOWEVER… instead of dwelling on what I was worried about not knowing - I focused on what I knew I was good at: 1️⃣ I networked my a$$ off. I reconnected with people that I had met along the way in my career. 2️⃣ I helped people out of the kindness of my heart - never with my hand out. If a friend needed an odd job or help with a project - I was Hallie on the spot. I gave my time and put my best foot forward every.single.time. 3️⃣ I connected other people for mutually beneficial collaborations knowing that eventually my time would come and someone would pay it forward. Then my time came, and someone paid it forward and it wasn’t easy to get where I am today, but it can be done and I did it! And guess what - you can do it too. Whether you are looking to change careers, go back to work after being at home or you’ve recently lost your job - this system works. Network, donate your time, help others, BE KIND.
