Honestly, I’m a little mad that I didn’t try this sooner! I think it turned out so well! And the hardest part was really taping, but next time I think I will do the glass protecting jelly that I used on the bottom row of pains as that seem to be a little bit faster. But as far as process went, I did the yellow base let that dry and it dried super fast then I went over it with a brown color and use the wood rocking tool immediately after and worked my way around the mirror doing that. Then I went back over with some white touches with my fan brush to give it a weathered look.

Never underestimate the power of a little paint!

Honestly, I’m mad I didn’t do this sooner! It turned out so well! I think once I got over the chore of taping, which was no small feat, it was pretty quick! Paint with yellow color, dry, paint with brown color, apply woodgrain tool, repeat. I do go back over it with other colors if the hue wasn’t quite right. Then at the end, I used my fan paintbrush to add the white weathered strokes. I did buy and paint the mirror/glass protector jelly and used that on the bottom row. That was a lot easier to apply than tape!

I wanted my basic metal bed to look like a beautiful upholstered designer bed… without actually buying a new bed. 😂

This linen bed skirt completely changed it. I searched Amazon for that tailored French box-pleated look, and this was the only one that comes close to the inspo. I also chose the color specifically to coordinate with my headboard so the two would visually read as one upholstered bed.

Designer note: the bedskirt is linen, while my headboard fabric is not. If you want actual linen for your headboard to coordinate with the skirt, that’s certainly possible-I didn’t do that due to the cost of linen.

Sometimes the best window hardware is one that disappears completely. I love how this window turned out! And it only took some drilling and screws to attach the track, which came with its own connectors and rollers. You do have to cut the track to size-I had to involve my husband for that part. But it was well worth it!

You can’t see it here, but there are black marks on the wall from where the dryer door repeatedly struck. So my tolerance for that became zero after installing all those wallpaper myself (although the wallpaper is actually a great protector for the wall as well). Even so, this is the better solution for maintaining pretty paper, and reducing unnecessary collisions in my designer laundry-closet. 😆

My laundry room finally feels like the special little space it was always meant to be.

I built DIY sliding tile doors to hide our laundry hookups, and somehow the least qualified woodworking woman in the room survived to tell the tale.

The goal: hide the wall hookups but make them easily accessible (because parents don’t need to add a step to the laundry routine).

The solution: a lightweight sliding door unit made with ceiling tiles, Morcart peel-and-stick tile, sliding tracks, and a level of confidence that was not fully earned.

It’s not the shortest tutorial I’ve ever made, but it might be the most useful if your front loaders came with hookups that were placed directly in your line of sight like a decorative feature nobody asked for.
