Loving my new watercolor workbook! Best weekend project for tweens or teens. I have been working on watercolors each weekend while football is on, or binging a show. It’s so much better for your brain than double screening on the iPad and it keeps your hands and mind busy! Also, linking the note cards, which are great for upcoming birthdays or holidays. Also linking the paint set so you can gift them to tweens, teens, best friends and aging parents!

A Watercolor project box! Load up with a watercolor workbook, a packet of watercolor notecards and stamps, brushes and paints! Using a desktop organizer from Target. As of this post Christmas workbooks are discounted. You can also use their retail locator to see if there is a local shop near you!

New to Mahjong? Let’s get you equipped!
This post is to help you get started or help you decide how to gift a friend so they can get started. (Save this post for info on designer brands - listed at the bottom - for when you are ready to upgrade!)

You need a mat, a set of tiles, and racks. If you don’t have a table small enough to set up, then get a foldable card table. The extras are the carrying case and storage cases for the mats, the tiles and the dice.

I have linked a moderately priced all in one set that I have played in person and it’s a great beginners/intermediate set. Note: it has traditional engraved tiles.

I have also linked a great printed tile set (they are usually engraved tiles), but this set is inexpensive and has custom characters (not traditional ones). You can then pair with the linked racks and a mat.
It would be perfect as a beginners set. Note: it may not be on prime delivery. You’ll have to double check, and the green set has a different tile face.

I have also linked the Oh My Mahjong tile dupes from Mahjong co. that you can get for half the retail price. I have linked a few designer sets that are on the Anthropologie website for reference.

I have also linked a Prada set for anyone interested in seeing just how expensive this game can be :)

MAHJONG STARTER SET -or-
MAHJONG PRACTICE SET
- such a great Amazon find! This set is under $100 (until they realize the demand). This is a cute custom tile face set, but note it is printed not engraved. Therefore I don’t know the durability just yet. However, if you want to play mahjong and the other sets are so pricey it’s keeping you away, OR you want your friend, aging parent, teen to try mahjong or even a great gift for the office lounge that won’t break the bank, then this is your set. As of this post, the pink set is NOT available for prime delivery. The green set is also cute, but with a sunny vacation vibe. I personally recommend the pink one, it’s the closest to the $400 versions. (Again, not sure of the longevity yet, but if you follow me in the LTK app then I can come back and provide updates)
As of this post, the pink set is NOT available for prime/Christmas delivery - but worth the wait if you want to get a starter set.

This is the best new hobby! It’s so relaxing for the brain. I like painting on the weekends in order to get off my phone 😵‍💫 Also can be done while watching sports or calling your parents 😉 I even roped my teen into doing a painting with me. I recommend ordering 2 books and the paint set to start. Then take the free class on the Emily Lex Studio website before diving in. You can swap between the two books so you don’t get bored. I linked the 4 books I have, and currently planning to order the autumn and woodland for fall. These also make excellent gifts for your friends or parents, order the Christmas or Winter workbook and paint set as a holiday gift!

You can pick up inexpensive brushes at Michael’s or order off of Amazon. note: the workbooks on Amazon are not from the actual studio, so buy them directly and support the Emily Lex Studio!
