Part 2- Projects we did that other people would hire out. Did we ever mention that we built this patio too ~ it was the part of our yard where we could never grow grass so we thought why not add a patio. We did it in two stages. Behind our garage first for grilling & eating outdoors & having a patio garden. Then we added a hot tub and decided to expand our patio for more seating & a fire pit. Now it is one of our favorite “rooms” in our house! We had a mason build the sitting wall but we have also built stone walls & paths ourselves too! When our girls were little they used to “build patios” with extra bricks we had when they played with the neighbors- I wonder why! 🤣 Behind the scenes throwback pictures coming soon! Still loving our @purpleleafgarden cantilever umbrella for providing shade wherever we want it! Such great quality!

Which one are you? I am the direction reader and usually get called in after the attempt to “just wing it” fails miserably!

Bench building: putting in those 100’s of pegs was so satisfying! When redoing our mudroom we decided we needed a bench that did triple duty- a place to put down our coffee on the way out the door, take a seat while putting on our boots and a place to store our slippers for when we arrive at the cottage. This one fit the bill! Love the open shelf underneath to store our mostly clean shoes. Have a shoe tray next to it for mud season & the inevitable mess of living at the end of a long dirt road.

A few people asked about our bed frame, bed & bedding after we recently updated our primary bedroom. We are still loving our @thuma bed & @saatva mattress & @gokotta.us bamboo sheets we bought for ourselves a few years ago! When we updated our room we cleared everything out so we could deep clean the entire room and change out our rug. Luckily our @thuma bed frame is easy to take apart and put back together! Only 2 screws in the entire bed. Love the gorgeous Japanese joinery on the bed and the simple modern design. The @saatva mattress is organic and comfortable and gives us peace of mind and our most comfortable restorative sleep. The @gokotta.us sheets are bamboo, so soft and cooling and my favorite sheets EVER! With the off center window above our bed we decided to go with a wall of curtains from @homerilla_official 100% room darkening for the best sleep of our lives! How about you?
