Reflections on a new beginning. This past week we had the pleasure of moving our middle daughter across country and helping her and her roommates create a new home together in Colorado! It was so fun to reflect on our own experiences living in Colorado at her exact age! So excited for them and all the memories they will be making to reflect on when they are older!

This gifted mirror from @framemymirror is simply stunning! It is substantial and like no other arched mirror I have seen in any stores. Beautiful quality and gorgeous gold frame! I love that they have options to frame mirrors you already own (we’re coming for you frameless bathroom mirrors!) 10/10 would order mirrors from them again for clients and for our own homes!

Creating a welcoming room for guests is one of our favorite things to do. Whether it welcoming family into our home for a holiday or at our lake house VRBOs. We like a guest room to be simple, uncluttered & ready for our guests to unwind. Love this soft & thin white cotton coverlet set for all our guest rooms. It is easy to add as a top layer or as the only bedding in warmer months. It gives a clean, fresh & welcoming touch to a guest room.

Here is a list of other essentials we always include in our guest rooms:
1. a bedside light & a nightlight if they prefer it.
2. easy access to a plug for charging phones.
3. a coaster for water at night & coffee or tea in the morning.
4. fresh towels & washcloths & a blow dryer so they don’t have to go searching for what they need.
5. A spot to sit down to take a call, work or put on their shoes.
6. an extra blanket for cold nights.
7. room darkening shades.
8. a sound machine. Especially in our lake houses where the rooms are smaller & the walls are thin!
9. fresh flowers or seasonal decor to let them know you are glad they are here.

Homerilla has so many options to choose from. Pick a neutral or bold color based on colors you already have in your room in your rug, artwork or bedding. I went with plum for our bedroom but have done neutrals in other rooms in our home.
2. Choose the fabric. I personally love the Lille luxury linen & have chosen it for all my rooms.
3. Choose the backing. For our bedroom I went with 100% blackout & I’m so glad I did! 😴
4. Choose to get memory training or not. I always choose memory training and love how the curtains fall perfectly right away with no ironing or steaming!
5. Choose the pleat style. These are double french pleat.
6. Choose the width. Hang as high and wide as you can so you aren’t blocking the light from your windows when the curtains are open.
7. Choose the length. Just kissing the floor 😘 unless you like a pooled look. If your curtain rods are already hung measure from the bottom of the rod to the floor. Subtract the size of the ring you will use. These curtains have adjustment tabs on back but the curtains hang better when you only have to adjust them a small amount. Otherwise hang rods once your curtains arrive so you can get them just right.
8. Choose the rings: I chose black to match our curtain rods.

KT unboxed, put together and installed this fan completely by herself! It was really easy to put together and the instructions were great. She loves having a remote control (they can change fan settings from bed). They also like the multiple light color function (warm to cool) with dimability. And of course having the fan be able to go both direction and having multiple speeds is great. Looks great in their bedroom and really completes the space. Their old fan came with the house and this one is a fantastic upgrade!

A great feature of this fan is it has reversible fan blades. In winter you can also use it with your heating system to circulate warm air evenly in your space. A great year-round essential!

Are you a snack house or an ingredient house? I grew up in an ingredient house & my children would say the same! My brother & I still talk about making our own chocolate butter cream frosting in our kitchenaid when we wanted something sweet.
We are also a Kitchenaid family & use it almost daily! When we saw we could give our stand mixer a glow up with a new wooden bowl we didn’t hesitate to say “yes, please!” We like to have two bowls for our kitchenaid when baking and making multiple recipes & this one reminds us of the wooden bowl kitchenaid we were all coveting last year (just me?) We couldn’t justify the price tag then since we already own a kitchenaid at home & at the lake. But a new bowl? That we could handle!

A few people asked about our bed frame, bed & bedding after we recently updated our primary bedroom. We are still loving our @thuma bed & @saatva mattress & @gokotta.us bamboo sheets we bought for ourselves a few years ago! When we updated our room we cleared everything out so we could deep clean the entire room and change out our rug. Luckily our @thuma bed frame is easy to take apart and put back together! Only 2 screws in the entire bed. Love the gorgeous Japanese joinery on the bed and the simple modern design. The @saatva mattress is organic and comfortable and gives us peace of mind and our most comfortable restorative sleep. The @gokotta.us sheets are bamboo, so soft and cooling and my favorite sheets EVER! With the off center window above our bed we decided to go with a wall of curtains from @homerilla_official 100% room darkening for the best sleep of our lives! How about you?
