Behind the scenes on a recent PBS KIDS shoot 🎬

🎬 A little behind the scenes of life as a makeup artist on set…

This was one of those “only on a film set” moments - standing in front of an actual fire scene while keeping my actor camera-ready. 🔥

When I'm working on set, my job isn't just about making someone look good. It's about making sure their skin looks natural under the lights, makeup stays put between takes, and they're comfortable throughout a long production day.

And yes, I work with plenty of male actors, models, and clients. For men especially, my goal is usually “you, but better” - not makeup that looks like makeup.

A few of my on-set essentials:

🤍 Carpe Sweat Absorbing Face Lotion — one of my favorites for male talent, especially when we're dealing with heat, long days, nervous sweating, or heavy production lights. It helps control facial perspiration without making the skin look dry or overly matte.

🤍 RCMA Translucent Loose Powder — what I typically use during initial makeup application while my actor is seated. It sets the skin while keeping the finish natural.

🤍 RCMA or Kett Pressed Translucent Powder — my go-to for touch-ups once we're on set. A pressed powder is quick, convenient, and much easier to use when I'm working around wardrobe, lighting, equipment, and a moving actor.

The goal isn't to make an actor look powdered. It's to control shine, maintain the skin's natural texture, and make sure they look consistent from shot to shot.

✨ What are my personal favorite cluster lashes AND what's in my pro makeup kit for my clients? ✨

If you love the look of lashes but want more control than you get with a traditional false lash strip, lash clusters are one of my favorite options.

My go-to lash styles are Ardell Naked Clusters paired with DUO White Lash Glue. I keep all lengths in my kit because they let me customize the look based on the person, eye shape, and desired level of drama.
