On today, I would like to recognize and thank Mary Eliza Mahoney, who was the first black licensed nurse in the United States.

She paved the way for ALL of us. and lately, I use my time on social media to educate and inspire others who look like me to join and grow in this profession, but I also know that nursing is a work of heart. The money will never be enough. You have to have the PASSION.

But that’s why Nurse’s Week is so important. We are the most overworked, underpaid, under-appreciated profession and we deserve our flowers. Not only THIS week, but EVERY week.

So Happy Nurse’s Week to all of the INCREDIBLE nurses out there. May we know them, May we teach them, May we be them.
