Here are all of my favorite sectionals for the perfect family friendly comfortable seating. From Arhaus, Serena & Lily, Crate & Barrel and Pottery Barn — I’ve rounded them all up in one place to shop. Plus most are on sale up to 30% for Labor Day!

Unlacquered brass kitchen hardware from Rejuvenation. I used a combination of ball knobs, bin pulls, drawer pulls and oval cupboard latches to achieve a timeless and curated look for my kitchen. I love that the unlacquered brass will patina over time and add character.

So obsessed with my @oneskin products that I had to get the travel kit for my vacation. I’ve officially entered the age of checking a bag just for my skincare.

Yes we’re all trying to be minimalists and shop local and avoid buying for Black Friday when we shouldn’t, BUT if I were buying big ticket items for my home, this is the time I would buy them. I actually keep a list of things in my phone that I want to buy when those sales hit because 30% off makes a BIG difference (a.k.a it’s basically free).

Here are the top things I’d be buying right now while they’re on sale:

1. Kitchen plumbing fixtures, sinks, runners and hardware. Hardware is a sneaky one that adds up at the end of the renovation. If you plan for it ahead of time you won’t be surprised and can get exactly what you want.

2. Sofas and sectionals $$$. These are one of the most-used pieces in the home so investing in something that will wear well and last for your family makes complete sense. You can literally save thousands if you buy while they’re on sale.

3. Bathroom vanities. Off the shelf vanities can work really well in spaces that don’t require custom measurements.

4. Beds and mattresses. I can’t tell you how obsessed I am with my Saatva mattress. I use them in every project now because I sleep like a baby. Bought mine last Black Friday and saved over $600! Also the Tilly bed frame from Wayfair is always a go to.

5. Storage! I bought my Urban Ourfitters Mason cabinet years ago during a sale and I love it so much. It’s the baby sister to the Anthropologie Fern cabinet which is another go to. It’s polished and holds all the things for hosting in one chic place.

Happy Thanksgiving! I’m so thankful to you for shopping my links and making sharing my favorite things part of my job. 😊😊

Don’t think I could beat my all maroon fit from last weekend, but v into the short sleeve sweaters
I asked all of you your favorite pillow a while back and it was a resounding win for @coopsleepgoods. I am so obsessed with this pillow I bought one for everyone in my family. I’m talking the baby, my mom, everyone. I even have the travel size because I can’t live without it.

It’s 25% off right now! I have the Eden, kids have the original, baby has the toddler and I use the travel — so basically you can’t go wrong
Just bought this chest for my entry that I saw in High Point in the Sping and have been dreaming about ever since. Not on sale but you get 20% back in a gift card if you purchase for Black Friday Look at that cute little swoop!
I would buy this Quince cashmere tee in every color. It’s sooo soft and cozy and the perfect amount of warmth for late Fall. Paired with Abercrombie satin pants. All about the color drenching in the outfits lately.

Unpopular opinion — we actually love a shower curtain moment. They bring pattern and softness into an otherwise hard surface room and allow you to change the vibe with an easy swap. Yes, we love glass shower doors for their sleek appeal and use them all the time in remodels and new builds, but we often hear people cursing their shower curtains and it just seems a little unfair. I’m here to tell you that when you have kids sharing a bathroom, or you’re deep in the tub time phase, or you just want a little pattern in a bathroom you can’t fully renovate, shower curtains are your friend.

What do you think? Are shower curtains really the enemy?
Let it all out in the comments ☁️

I promised my husband I was making the right choice when I left my full-time job 3 years ago and [between us girls] I was only 40% sure that I was. I can confidently say now that it was the best decision I’ve ever made.

I pinch myself every day that I get to create beautiful spaces for the most amazing clients and their families. I’m talking some of the best, most genuine, down-to-earth, trusting people I’ve ever met.

As a mom who cares about my environment deeply, I understand the desire to have beautiful surroundings and also let your kids be kids. (If we’re being honest it’s always the adults who spill red wine on your nice things anyway.) That’s what sets us apart at @pennyandpearldesign — we believe that everyone deserves to feel their best at home no matter the stage of life you’re in. We take houses and make them into homes that hold tradition, memories and all of your favorite things. What an absolute gift it’s been to do it as a career. 🤍🤍🤍
Hi! I’m Rachael— owner of @pennyandpearldesign and home enthusiast turned interior designer.

I started Penny & Pearl in 2021 after sharing projects in my own home on Instagram per the recommendation of my best friend which turned into strangers asking for help with their spaces. I posted my services in too many Facebook groups to count and got blacklisted in many of said groups for advertising, but heck you win some you lose some. I met some of my very best clients through the groups that didn’t kick me out so we’ll chalk that up as a win.

Fast forward four years and I’m so grateful to have a wait list of you beautiful people wanting to bring our signature look into your homes. It’s equal parts humbling and SO damn fun.

My mission has never been to be a major household name or have a line with Target, (but for the record I wouldn’t say no). I treasure being home with my four kids so much and have been able to balance being home when they get off the bus and even take a day off to bring the baby to the library or out for a donut just because.

For those reasons I haven’t hired a big staff and I don’t take on more projects than I can give my full attention to. Someday maybe, but for now I’m enjoying this season of relying on the people in my circle who help me do my best work. Talented craftspeople, eager part-time help with great sense of style, local shop owners who deeply care about their products, peer designers who share stories and let me vent, and of course my family who are so supportive [and the GOAT of babysitters].

To me, Penny & Pearl isn’t just for my handful of clients. It’s for all of you who have been here from day one cheering me on and staying invested in my projects. It makes me so happy when I see you out around town wearing your Penny & Pearl sweatshirts or when you say hi at the soccer field. It’s such a gift to be able to help people feel their best at home and it wouldn’t be possible without this bada$$ community.

Also what’s the disorder called when you get extra sappy every October?

Give us a client bathroom and we can make decisions on the spot, but give us our own bathroom and we have commitment issues. Do we know too much? Maybe.

We’re renovating our second floor bathroom very very soon and —as much as we love going outside of our comfort zone— we’re staying very much inside our comfort zone for this one. Think white oak, marble, limestone, neutrals, mixed metals. You already know the drill.

It’s the client bathrooms I still think about years later that tell me they’re what I love most and this one will always stick with us as a Penny & Pearl classic.

This project sticks out in my mind as one of my favorites for so many reasons. The clients, the team working on it, the color palette, the photos, all of it.

Our job is to design YOUR dream home, but when the project also happens to turn out to look like OUR dream home too, it’s a big bonus. We are so fortunate to be totally aligned with our clients in terms of style and it makes the end result so much better. It wasn’t always this way [insert flashbacks of the client who made me use colorful butterfly wallpaper on her desk in Las Vegas].

It’s the number one reason why our inquiry form says “are you familiar with Penny & Pearl Design projects and is our style your ideal?” We hate to be picky, but if your answer is no then it’s also a no for us. Not because we don’t respect and appreciate all styles, but because when our clients trust our vision and process the results speak for themselves.

The holidays always begin here — in the kitchen. From filling pots with family recipes to setting the table with care, these small rituals carry so much meaning. It’s not just about preparing a meal, it’s about creating space for laughter, connection, and memories that last long after the season ends.

With @wayfair, every detail — big or small — feels effortless and beautiful, making our home holiday-ready.

Bringing new life to a room can be as simple as adding or changing out the art. I fell in love with these @minted pieces for their fresh color palettes and love the way the scale adds character to the spaces. The natural wood frames felt like the perfect finishing touch— adding warmth, texture, and just the right amount of contrast against our white walls.

Designing spaces in my own home is my favorite thing because I get to use my all the materials and finishes I love with minimal convincing that it’s the right choice. While it’s the most fun, it can also prove challeging because I’ve seen it all. I find that staying true to a classic style with timeless charm and natural materials is a reliable way to create a space I’ll love forever.

For our kids’ bathroom I wanted to make it charming, durable and fresh. I paired polished nickel Perrin & Rowe plumbing fixtures with aged brass Emtek hooks, knobs, and bathroom accessories—generously gifted by @houseofrohl, my go-to for heirloom-quality pieces.

While some say not to use nice things in kids’ spaces, I couldn’t disagree more. I design my own home the same way I design all of my clients’ homes— with a commitment to beautiful, quality products that will stand the test of time. Investing in quality from the start has saved me from replacing cheaper options time and time again all while showing my kids the value of taking care of things we find beautiful. Also I’m jealous of their bathroom and I hope they know they’re super lucky so they better take care of it 😉.

Few things bring us more joy than a well-styled shelf. It’s more of an art than a science, but we get asked often how to make a shelf look “just right” so here are our top 5 tips for styling. Save this for later so you have the recipe!

1. Use a mix of things you already love and new things you buy with intent to just look pretty. Your decor will feel more like you if every piece isn’t straight from the Pottery Barn catalog. Bring out the personal art, family photos and vintage finds that you can display proudly.

2. Varied heights are the key to your shelves not looking flat and boring. Think a tall vase next to a short canister, a big frame and a little frame overlapping, stacked boxes, using stands to lift art.

3. Books are your friend. Collect books from around your house and buy a handful of pretty coffee table books to act as a base for objects and add more dimension. Don’t tell your local librarian, but we always take the book jackets off to make them look simple and clean— plus you never know what’s hiding under a colorful jacket!

4. We love a good bowl. Wooden beads, terracotta or wooden chains and glass balls are our favorite fillers for bowls. The effortless look of a beaded garland spilling out of a bowl or off a box never gets old. Please— whatever you do— do not use fake grass balls, potpourri, or anything else you find labeled “filler” at Homegoods. Just walk away…

5. Have fun! The most important thing is that your home feels like a reflection of you so don’t force it. It shouldn’t look perfect or over styled. Less is more and personal is always better than store bought.
