This plant stand was looking a little tired, but a few coats of @rustoleum spray paint gave it a whole new life. šŸŒæāœØ If you know my work, you know that I hate painting natural wood, but sometimes thereā€™s a scenario that calls for it. I chose a soft green that feels timeless and I love how it turned out! A few spray paint tips: āœ”ļø Clean thoroughly before painting. āœ”ļøUse a good primer so that your paint bonds well āœ”ļø Use light, even coats āœ”ļø Allow proper drying time between coats Sometimes the smallest projects make the biggest impact! Here are the steps I used to restore this vintage buffet! āœØSand (this was 75% of the work) - start with a rough grit (80-120) depending on what you need to remove - I used a sandpaper block, carbide scraper, and mouse sander for the tight corners - Sand again with finer grit (220) - Light hand sand with 400 grit - Wipe down with damp cloth āœØPrestain - Donā€™t skip this step, this is what helps your stain absorb evenly! āœØStain - I used 2 coats of @minwaxusa English Chestnut - sand lightly with 400 in between coats āœØSeal - my first time trying this and Iā€™m now a BELIEVER! I used @zinsser Seal Coat Shellac, it goes on like water and dries fast, but makes that top coat go on like soooo smooth āœØTop coat - @minwaxusa wipe-on poly is my go-to. Wipe on with a rag and add a second coat if needed āœØDrawers - I used @howard_products wood conditioner on the inside of the drawers (bonus is that it smells AMAZING) #tayloredhome #tayloredhomedesign #furniturerestoration #furnituredesign #furniturerefinishing
A little refinishing ASMR for you āœØ Here are the steps I followed for this solid wood piece: - clean surfaces - Sand (I avoided chemical strippers with this project), and use carbine scraper for corners - Wipe down with damp cloth - Brush on a coat of @howard_products Wax-N-Feed wood conditioner inside drawers - Apply a layer of @minwaxusa Prestain #tayloredhome #tayloredhomedesign #furnituredesign #furnitureflip #furniturerestoration #LTKHome

Unique sensory bases! These are some of our favorite no/low prep sensory play fillers in our house. Just dump in a bin and add some kitchen utensils for hours of fun! (Of note, we tried tons of fake snows and this one is THE BEST). Have kids trace their name in the sand, dig for buried treasure, use balls for counting practice and color recognition, and enjoy the unique textures these fillers offer!
