Stripping the original finish is a demanding task, but it’s worth the effort for a stunning transformation! While there are various approaches, I prefer to begin with a chemical stripper. It’s a gentler alternative to sanding, especially when working with delicate veneer.

Here are my steps below⬇️
1️⃣Use Jasco Chemical Stripper (or CitriStrip)
2️⃣Clean residue with Furniture Refinisher & steel wool
3️⃣Let dry, then sand with no less than 150 grit
4️⃣Use Zinsser Wood Bleach to lighten (repeat as needed)
5️⃣Apply desired stain - I used Fusion’s “Golden Pine”
6️⃣Apply protective finish - I used Matte Polyurethane

I took an old, worn-out wine cabinet and gave it a fresh new look. The "before" photo shows the cabinet looking plain and outdated, with a basic brown finish. I decided to breathe new life into it by painting it a rich, deep burgundy color, as seen in the "after" photo. The new gold knobs add a touch of elegance, and now it’s not just functional but also a stylish piece in my home. The transformation turned out even better than I imagined!

In this photo, you can see a dresser I refinished. The top part labeled "Before" shows the dresser with its original dark, glossy finish, which had a somewhat dated look. The bottom part labeled "After" showcases the dresser after I used a technique called faux wood grain to make it look like real wood.

To achieve this effect, I first sanded down the entire piece to remove the old finish and smooth out the surface. I then applied a base coat of paint in a light, neutral tone. Once the base coat was dry, I used a oil-based stain to create realistic wood grain patterns by dragging a chip brush through the stain applied over the base coat. This technique gave the dresser a fresh, natural wood appearance, transforming its overall look.
