Some of my favorite cashmere sweaters are on sale!

The Nordstrom’s sweater is lightweight and very beautifully done. It’s got a delicate, gorgeous drape. Bloomingdale’s cashmere is a pass and not in the same category.

Uniqlo has the best classic sweater - i scrunch up the sleeves and play with the waist to modernize it. Lots of colors are on sale.

And a bunch of excellent Banana Republic cashmere sweaters are on sale, with an extra 20% off.

I’m wearing the polo sweater from Banana Republic from last year, size small.

Bottom left: Uniqlo sweater, size small, 73 purple (which is not on sale).

I’m 5’7” and wear sizes 0-4, or a small.

It’s Black Friday! Sort of.

I get a lot of questions about Jenni Kayne, and the similarities to Everlane always struck me. For Black Friday, I’m sharing these twins with you so you can decide.

I prefer the design of Everlane’s barrel sweats. The rest depend on styling preferences. Jenni Kayne tends to have boxier shapes: the torso is wider. If you love that oversized look, there won’t be an exact substitute. But some people might actually want to go for a relaxed look rather than really, truly oversized, and that’s where Everlane wins.

A lot of the difference comes down to photography. Jenni Kayne’s models tend to wear the cardigan without a layer underneath, and Everlane’s photos look like more practical work outfits.

I love that boxy crop shirt - very Victoria Beckham, both the person and the label. This is a shirt that people write me about to tell me how much they love it, too.

I am wearing the silk shirt now. The blue is perfect to wear with jeans in monochrome - double denim but make it luxury.

That oversized wool blend sweater is so bold and confident! They really bring exceptional design to the high street, and I am loving it.

Which is your favorite pick?

I’ve been comparing quality in terms of smoothness, softness, knit density, design integrity, and color fidelity. Here are my top picks:
* Most colorful
* Most affordable
* Best lightweight
* Most luxurious
* Best overall

I’m wearing the Quince Mongolian Cashmere Boxy Crewneck Sweater ($80) in faded denim, size small.

Bonus picks:
Aritzia is grade A, so it’s very soft. It’s got more surface fluff than Cos, so there’s a higher risk for pilling. But it’s a great alternative.

Lisa Yang is up there with traditional luxury brands in terms of quality, but it’s got modern cuts and much more affordable pricing: it’s designed in Sweden and made in China. Highly recommend

My size: 5’7”, usually 26 jeans, 0-4 in US sizes.

#LTKSeasonal #LTKFindsUnder100 #LTKVideo
Aritzia uses Grade A cashmere, which means the filaments are fine, creating a soft hand feel. But the sweaters have significant fluff on the surface, so they’re more likely to pill than smooth sweaters. At any price, there’s a tradeoff in quality.

Aritzia’s sweaters have neat construction – nothing’s pulling, the seams lie flat, and the techniques express the design well.

Compared to other sweaters in similar prices, I think Aritzia offers a fair value, and they offer styles similar to what you’d find from high end brands. I do wish they’d offer more colors, but it’s probably more efficient for them to offer a focused range.

Styles shown:
Aritzia
bare cashmere crew cardigan, $168 (heather dark grey)
cashmere relaxed crew sweater, $178 (nightshade blue)

Everlane
The Classic Cardigan in Cashmere, $178

Lisa Yang
The Mila Sweater, $620 (iris melange)
Sony Cashmere Drop-Shoulder Crewneck Sweater, $710 (rose pink)

Quince
Mongolian Cashmere Cardigan Sweater, $80
Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater, $50

#LTKVideo #LTKStyleTip #LTKSeasonal
Here are the styles I’m reviewing:

1. 100% Organic Cotton Boyfriend Crew Sweater, dark olive, $50
2. 100% Yak Wool Turtleneck Sweater, heather brown, $70
3. Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater, strawberry melange, $50
4. Mongolian Cashmere Boxy Crewneck Sweater, faded denim, $80

I’m wearing size S in all the above. The sweaters fit me well, except the cashmere crewneck, whose sleeves are too short for me.

My size: 5’7”, usually 26 jeans, 0-4 in US sizes.

With all the buzz about burgundy and brown this season, the color of faded denim isn’t getting as much attention. I do love seeing it as an option this winter – ever since Hermès re-released bleu jean in 2023, it’s been on my mind. You can see how it flows with two denim colors at the end of the video.

Things that stand out from Sézane for fall, including the rain coats that I’m seeing for the first time in person.

Styles covered:
1. Scott trench coat, camel $305
2. Clyde balmacaan coat, camel $350 (misidentified as a trench on the site)
3. Betty cardigan, perfect green $170
4. Sama jumper, light pink $160
5. Cesar pleated trousers, camel $180
6. Martin trousers ($170) & Michele jacket ($230), coffee corduroy; Martin Trousers, mottled grey $170, Damon Trousers, mottled grey $160, Martin trousers, caramel $170
7. Will jacket, camel $190

My size: 5’7”, usually 26 jeans, 0-4 in US sizes. I’m wearing the Betty cardigan in size small.

They have a bunch of beautifully cut trousers in fabrics that are about half polyester. They are very likely to pull, so I can’t recommend them.

Some styles come in different fabrics - not just different colors - so definitely check before purchasing.

Which would you pick?

I compared their crewnecks, so let’s discuss these factors:
1. Hand feel
2. Gauge
3. Thickness and density
4. Surface fuzz
5. Finishing
6. Cut
7. Size/fit

Which would you pick?

My size: 5’7”, usually 26 jeans, 0-4 in US sizes. Small in both sweaters in the video.

#LTKVideo #LTKStyleTip #LTKFindsUnder100
I do love Uniqlo cashmere, but the cut feels stale. The cinched waist and tapered sleeves are mostly the markers of this cut.

Modern sweaters tend to have a boxier bodice; the waistband continues the width of the sweater flatly, and the sleeves are straighter all the way through the cuff. Yes, that makes them a little cumbersome when you’re washing dishes, but modern sweaters are for serving looks and not for messing with dish soap.

Here are ways I style classic sweaters:
1. Simplest
2. Over button downs
3. Over tee shirts
4. Tucked
5. Tied over the shoulders

My size: 5’7”, usually 26 jeans, 0-4 in US sizes.

Sizes worn:
Uniqlo sweater: S
Banana Republic button downs: S
J.Crew cami: S
Frame jeans: 26

J.Crew vs. Alex Mill: which do you prefer?

Both brands have winners in this match up.

If you love that classic, effortless look from J.Crew and want that step up in quality – Alex Mill has some options for you. J.Crew wins some rounds, and coincidentally, J.Crew has a workwear sale now.

1. Lady jackets: Emilie vs. Paris. I prefer Alex Mill

2. Trousers: Portia & the Cuffed wide-leg vs. Soho
J.Crew!

3. Blazers: a selection vs. Soho
Good options in both, things to pass on as well

4. Cashmere: cropped V-neck vs. Rowan
J.Crew is lighter, thinner, more demure, and Alex Mill has really great quality in trendier, more substantial proportions

#LTKWorkwear #LTKVideo #LTKFallSale
J. Crew added another Emilie lady jacket: a relaxed version. If you’ve been intrigued by the Totême silhouette and also love lady jackets, your perfect Emilie is now on sale for $90. (Worth it at full price imo, the cotton is really nice).

And, of course, the Sézane Betty is a beautiful option in wool. I hope they bring out new iterations this fall.

It feels a bit inception-y to talk about a brand that’s so authentic to its inspiration and a sharp satire at the same time. I aspire to cover the old money aesthetic the same way, with both respect and comedy.

While I’m weary of repeating myself, I’ll note that “the old money aesthetic” is a fashion trend that translates preppy clothes for 2024. It largely interprets 90s J. Crew for today, making @lostjcrew happen for those of us without a time machine. It is not about cosplaying as people with generational wealth.

I’ve been admiring Sporty & Rich for their look, their story, and their imagery. The two brands that capture the old money aesthetic the best, imo, are Celine and Sporty & Rich. Celine is more formal, and S&R take you day-to-day.

Items mentioned
1. Hotel du Cap Stripe Embroidered Cotton Pajama Pants
2. Hotel du Cap Oversize Stripe Cotton Button-Up Shirt
3. SRC Embroidered Stripe Cotton Crop Button-Up Shirt
4. Eden Crest Wool Varsity Jacket
5. L.A. Athletic Group Cotton Graphic Crop Zip-Up Hoodie

How do you pull off day-to-night looks?

If we’re reading off an outfit description, a daytime look could sound similar to night. But when it comes down to it, a day look at night easily comes across as corporate or staid.

A night look during the day can be garish or inappropriate. It really is hard to inhabit both worlds well. It requires an ineffable, emotional aspect to the clothes to belong in both contexts.

I was really impressed by the Alex Mill linen blazer. Normally, their blazers aren’t refined enough for me. The seam allowances and shoulder pads look sloppy.

The cut and proportions of this blazer are so polished, so classic, that the casual vibe of the linen looks intentional. Yes, I do see a bit of the seam allowance on the lapel, but it ends up coming across as purposefully easy going. If the silhouette were less precise – boxy, for example – the lack of structure would appear sloppy. Here, it’s confident. It’s sultry, even, when you wear it on date night.

It’s a blazer you can confidently wear to meetings over a crisp button down, and it’s one that would be stunning with a slinky dress at night. Or wear it with a prim dress to balance it out and not appear stuffy. We know that’s a tough trick to pull off: looking polished and effortless at the same time.

Have you seen the Rag & Bone Miramar sweatpant jeans in person?

I love surrealism, I love trompe-l’oeil, and I love to learn about trends. This phenomenon needed an investigation.

I was impressed by the Miramars last fall. Can any Amazon versions match them and manage to riff on this concept?

Current favorites from Uniqlo, including that perfect French terry $40 sweatshirt!

#LTKworkwear #LTKfindsunder50 #LTKVideo
I really wanted an oversized bomber jacket ever since I came across a Vogue spread with the YSL version. I got mine on eBay, and it’s even more fun to wear than I thought.

I actually added another cardigan inside tonight because it’s in the 40s, which is legit cold for LA.

The shoes don’t match but they rhyme. I wanted to keep the tone similar to the jeans to elongate the leg and not take attention away from the jacket, the star here.

If you don’t want to go with a leather jacket, look for a vintage barn jacket

Is quality getting worse in fashion? Do things no longer measure up to quality from even just five years ago?

What’s your theory about it? Or theories if you’ve got more than one!

H&M launched in the US in 2000. Now fast fashion makes up 18% of global apparel sales.

Brands in midrange prices no longer just compete with each other. They compete with fast fashion.

For some categories, it means lower quality but also lower prices. For others, quality has gone down, but prices have not. I am talking about measurable quality: fabric content for pants. Knit density for sweaters.

Quality can also mean fit, function, and design integrity (aligning the ambitiousness of the design with an appropriate level of production quality). There’s a subjectivity to quality, too, in terms of what’s important to whom.

My theory is that prices went down to compete with fast fashion, and they dragged quality with them. Not much has emerged to occupy the space J. Crew used to occupy, unless you’re substituting something like Beyond Yoga athleisure for tailored pieces.

Even if you don’t buy fast fashion, you’re affected by the way it’s consumed.

#LTKworkwear #LTKVideo #LTKSeasonal
How do you like the recent J. Crew glow up? How do you like the styles? The quality?

J. Crew used to source its cashmere yarns from Loro Piana. I have an old sweater, and you can see it’s more densely knit. Light hardly gets through it.

Today’s J. Crew cashmeres are generally much more loosely knit. The gaps are visible.

The gaps allow the yarn to move around more as you wear the sweater. The movement causes friction, and the friction slowly releases filaments from the yarn. (Filaments are very thin threads that are spun together to create yarn.)

The more filaments get loose, the fuzzier the sweater. Then the fuzz clumps together to create pilling.

High quality sweaters tend to be tightly knit of yarn that’s made of longer filaments. Fuzz is curtailed at each step of the production: from the spinning of the yarn to the knitting itself.

But some people prefer a looser knit. Looser knits are more ventilated, so they’re better for warmer winters. Looser knits draps more closely to the body, more like silk than denim.

#LTKsalealert #LTKVideo #LTKSeasonal
How do you like Reformation? Do you have any of their sweaters? The design is really appealing. It’s easy to walk out of the store with a piece that updates your look, but still looks effortless.

The quality is what I’d expect for the price. If recycled cashmere matters to you, their range is a good option. Given what I saw in store, these sweaters are likely to pill faster than styles I recommend.

But the cotton looked and felt really great. I bet the ribbed cotton/nylon sweaters last nicely through washes (by hand, of course). The knit felt substantial, and it looks like fit would be really beautiful to wear.

#LTKVideo #LTKworkwear #LTKSeasonal
So excited for this collab! I love the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the store is a big part of that. The collab with White + Warren cashmere reminds me a bit of The Ritz x Frame, but it has more gravitas. Which I love

#LTKtravel #LTKSeasonal #LTKworkwear
I always check if a sweater comes in stripes. I always check for sales and deals. Here’s a culmination of my deepest loves.

Even though these sweaters are styled with simple bottoms, stripes go really well with patterns. If you’re stuck for ideas with a floral skirt, consider a striped sweater
