In our bathroom renovations, we used consoles instead of buying a traditional bathroom vanity. The consoles were less expensive than a vanity, but then you have your put the plumbing into the wall, and purchase vessel sinks, and a countertop (if you want one) so it might not really save you money overall. I mostly wanted the modern look of the wall mounted faucets. These faucets are from Amazon, and are a high end look for less.

Let’s bring up a controversial issue- open shelving! Do you love it or hate it? I love mine but I have a few things that make it work- I have enough storage in my kitchen that I can keep it to decorative items. Plastic stuff and kids water bottles are stored below in cupboards. I have a housekeeper that dusts once a month because honestly, I’m not going to dust all these items regularly. Here are some of my favorite decorative kitchen items.

How to disguise a TV- we don’t have a separate family room/living room and so I “hid” our TV in plain sight with a darker wallpaper wall behind it. The portrait print and plants catch your eye and the TV recedes.

Outdoor Shower Design- we turned an unused side yard into a spa bathroom with an outdoor shower. We added this stucco wall, a shower head and a trex deck.

Kids room design- how do you design a kids room that is fun and whimsical but doesn’t look like a theme vomited in one room of your house?? A mural is a great way to add some whimsy. Also colors that fit im with your overall palette help- here I went with a dusty rose headboard instead of a brighter hue.
