The Traveling Toy Box

Time to pull the pool toys out of storage and dream of warmer weather ☀️

Our theme this week is all things SUMMER. We’ll be sharing our favorite travel hacks, lake products and beach gear to help you simplify your storage needs while enjoying your summer traditions.

All week long we are talking about how to organize KID SPACES! 🧸🎨⚾️

Summer is almost here and the kids are almost out of school. If you have kids, your house is about to be a lot louder after next week, and probably a little messier too! It's time to tidy up those kid spaces and make sure you have a plan in place to keep the chaos at bay. (If you want some help, you know we love to cut the chaos!)

This week we'll share some of our favorite tips and tricks that you can try around your own home, as well as the products that we would consider ESSENTIAL to keeping kids stuff organized.

First tip: These zipper bags work great for board games that have lost their boxes, puzzle pieces, arts and crafts supplies, or other smaller items that you'd like to keep together. And these open front baskets allow kids to easily reach in and grab the items they're looking for.

✨ TOY CLOSET TRANSFORMATION ✨ Swipe for the before!

For this project our client had an enormous closet off the side of her living room. The location was incredibly convenient for storing toys, but it was getting harder and harder to fit everything inside and close the door at the end of the day. Our client's goal was to be able to move all of the toys out of the living room after her kids went to bed and store them neatly inside of the toy closet. We were able to install some shelving units, categorize and label toy bins, and create a sustainable storage system for their family that can adapt and to fit their needs as their kids age.

PRO TIP - see that ART CART in the center of the closet? We intentionally kept all of the art supplies on this easily accessible art cart. Now, anytime the kids are feeling creative, they can simply roll the entire cart out to the kitchen table. You can also use this same concept and create a HOMEWORK CART that is only pulled out while the kids are working on homework.

Today's Task: Purging Toys!

We're talking both kid and pet toys! Do you ever look around and notice your home is covered in toys, half of which aren’t even played with on a regular basis? There may even be some toys that aren’t relevant to your child’s development stage. It might be time to purge some toys! This can feel like an overwhelming task, so here are our suggestions for making toy purging a little easier:

✨ Start by deciding if your child should be involved in this process or not. If they’re at an age to understand donating and helping others and you think this would be a good task for them, involve them in this process. Otherwise, you may want to find a time when they won’t be home to get this purging done!
✨ Start with the toys you can easily purge - whether it’s toys you know your child has outgrown, a toy they never touch, or for another reason, set aside toys you have no doubt about getting rid of.
✨ If you’re unsure about ta toy, you could remove the toy from sight and place it in a bin in storage for a set period of time. If your child doesn’t notice the toy is missing in the time period, it may be time to let it go.
✨ Make sure to purge toys in every area of your home they could be. Many people keep toys in a few rooms, so make sure to purge all rooms at the same time!
