Wireless chargeable mouse—worth it because it’s so quiet and smooth. Works with or without a mouse pad!

Fun keyboard—makes providing feedback and answering emails aesthetic. This is one of my most talked about items in my classroom! This one plugs in with a USB. The Bluetooth ones never worked well with the computers we have at work.

Wrist support pad—if you know you know.

Oura Ring—obsessed is an understatement. I love data and how it tracks my sleep, activity, and stress levels. It’s better than the Apple Watch in my opinion! The app is awesome with insights too.

Classroom light covers—does the lighting in your room give you headaches too?! These are magnetic and flame resistant and click right to the lights on the ceiling. The vibes in my room are unmatched now.

Trying something new this year with pencils in my classroom. It’s no surprise we go through tons of pencils every year, especially in 8th grade.

This year I am only offering golf pencils. I had a coworker tell me it works wonders because the kids are less likely to keep them after the class period. These ones are even better because they have erasers!

This might be a total fail, but at least they are cute, right?!

Alright teachers, my husband takes all the credit for this one. He said he was looking online at reels one night and saw a video of a teacher doing puzzles with their class week one of school.

Here’s how the activity will look in my classroom of 8th graders:

1. Students will be in groups of about 4-5. Smaller groups work too, but I have big class sizes.

2. Each group gets a container of puzzle pieces. They do not get a picture of the puzzle and have no idea what the puzzle is supposed to look like when completed.

3. Set a timer and observe. Watch your students as they work through this task with each other. Who takes on the leadership role? Who listens and works well with others? Who is more shy and lets others do the work? Collect your teacher data!

4. First group done gets something. I always give out candy, but I realize that doesn’t work for everyone. Sometimes a good ole congrats works fine too 🙂

5. Are you kids engaged? Check out the dollar store around different seasons for some other puzzles and do this activity for seasonal community building!

I chose 48 piece puzzles in order to not stress the kids out and waste an entire class period, but there are so many options.
