Games aimed for emergent gamers have really stepped up and there are so many good ones. We recently played Adventure Land and couldn’t recommend it enough.

The gameplay is straightforward and easy to understand. On each turn you flip two cards to fill the grid with rewards, and then take two movement actions collecting rewards.

The catch - you can only move down and across the grid, there is no going back. So you have to decide if you want to rush ahead and potentially miss things or hang back.

This is a great mechanism for those looking to increase the strategic decisions of their games, but not overwhelming kids with too many decisions.

With simple rules and a relaxing nature theme - Cascadia is a great game to chill with on an weeknight or bring with you for a cozy afternoon with friends and family.

There is something about a good racing games that you just can’t help but love. The thrill of the wind in your hair as you navigate the track is exhilarating.

Monza is a dice rolling color matching race game where you’ll complete color patterns to move your racer. Great for building color recognition and beginning critical thinking.

Downforce is unique in that the cards you play will move not just your car, but also other players cars. But don’t worry, with the betting system - you might prefer that! There are several expansions to add variety too.

Heat is the newest racing game in our collection, but don’t let that fool you, I think it may be my personal favorite. Simple hand management, strategy, and a little bit of luck will see you flying around the board on your way to victory - it even includes a campaign mode.

PitchCar is always fun no matter what. You customize your own track, run time trials and flick the heck out of your disk while trying to stay on the track and not crash into anyone else. It’s chaotic and intense at times but we have a blast every single time we play.

We opened a great mix of games this Christmas - including some logic puzzles for the kids.
