You can’t do electrical work yourself, right? 💡🤔

Well, that’s what I used to think! I used to believe that electrical work was best left to the pros—until I discovered my hidden potential. Since becoming a homeowner in 2021, I’ve taken on projects I never thought possible. 🎉🎊

My DIY electrical journey began last year when I upgraded the vanity light fixtures in my master bathroom. That experience gave me the confidence boost I needed.

Inspired by my success, I decided to tackle my next challenge: installing a boho farmhouse fandelier.

Yes, you heard me right—a fandelier! 💡

It’s a beautiful combination of a fan and a chandelier, and it was less than $200—a budget-friendly addition to my home.

The old oiled bronze flush mount light fixture I had before was practical but dated. Most of the lights in my home look similar, so I was ready for something with more flair.

The thought of transforming my space with this beautiful piece made me eager to start the installation.

I admit I was nervous about this project. Electrical work can be intimidating, but I was determined to succeed. Armed with YouTube tutorials and my newfound confidence, I set out to replace the fixture.

It took about 1.5 hours to install because I was being extra careful, making sure I followed every step correctly. But it worked! My new fandelier is up and running, casting a beautiful glow across the room. The sense of accomplishment I felt was incredible!

This project added a unique touch to my home office and sparked a newfound interest in electrical work. I’m already planning to tackle the rest of the chandeliers and fans in our house. Who knew a simple lighting upgrade could lead to such a rewarding DIY journey?

Unpopular opinion. Homemade candles can have an unappealing appearance compared to store-bought ones, especially for gifts or decor.

I DISAGREE! Making your own candles can be such creative experience. You can choose to use new containers, mason jars, or find some vintage vessels when you thrift to use. You can add flower petals, dried flowers, and any scent you want!

This vintage inspired ribbed glass candy dish turned DIY candle is my new favorite accent piece in my blogging home office! Needless to say I’m not an expert on this but always use common sense — this vintage inspired candle is meant to be a decorative candle so always burn something like this with caution ❤️

“You can’t paint tile!!!!” 😡😠😤

Well that’s a least what many people told me.

I decided to paint my tiles anyways back in early 2023 with the help @rustoleum and their floor paint kit and @cuttingedgestencils with a custom floor tile stencil.

Not going to lie, this entire floor from start to finish (not including dry time) took me probably 40 hours!!

With all the details I wanted to add like the distressing over the darker paint with a sponge and white paint to give it an aged patina and the edges I had to clean up post stencil. It was a long process but it was a labor of love and I’m so happy I did it!

Even almost 1 year later this floor paint has held up! No imperfections or peeling has occurred.

I think that speaks volumes of the primer I used as well that is specifically made to repel moisture. And following the instructions on the paint kit I used.

Dry time and cure time should be followed for best results.

I took my master bathroom from early 2000s Tuscan to a modern farmhouse beauty for less than $500. It feels much more calming and serene in this space.

These after clips don’t even include the new vanity fixtures I installed myself after this. I will post that install soon!

Budget-Friendly Decor Can Look Cheap👇‼️😱

While it’s possible to decorate on a budget, some argue that using cheap materials or cutting corners can result in a tacky or low-quality appearance.

I am NOT one of these people that thinks budget friendly decorating looks cheap. I am always amazed when I hop on this app with how many talented creators share their genius thrifted finds, DIY project, and repurposing ideas.

Decorating your home doesn’t have to break the bank! If you have a smaller budget, it will take some patience, resourcefulness, and hunting to find the deals and you may even fall in love with the process. The thrill of the hunt as I like to call it!

My master bedroom was built on a small budget. It’s filled with inexpensive Amazon finds, secondhand finds, diy projects! It’s taken a bit longer for it to come together but I’m looking at the bigger picture. It’s not a race.

If I was to design a living room again, the number 1 thing I would do

…is thrift all of my furniture pieces to save money💰! Who needs to buy new when there are so many great secondhand options out there! 🤷‍♀️

1️⃣My sofa in my living room was originally from wayfair for $1400 and I got it on Facebook Marketplace for $800.
2️⃣The leather wingback chair was my grand mother’s. I cherish this piece.
3️⃣My channel back chair was a thrifted find.
4️⃣The wood bench came from a flea market.
5️⃣The wood coffee table was on Facebook Marketplace for $20.

To add more character to the space, I would go with thrifted first, DIY second, and new pieces of decor third that could be changed out seasonally. What about you? Do you agree?
