I slept a total of about 30 minutes last night it feels like so I am having a hard time stringing words together. Anyone else stay up half the night thinking about things like “don’t forget to sign up for the field trip” “go by the paint store” “buy hand sanitizer”?? That was just a few examples of what went through my head at 3am 🙄😩. I also can’t shake this light. I have someone coming to hang the new one I bought but now I kinda want this one instead. WHY IT WORKS || There is a shift happening in decorating that is bringing us all back to the basics. Natural woods, traditional pieces, and simplicity. There’s a reason why these elements have worked for centuries! Let’s break down this pretty siding room by @patrickprinty and find some ways to recreate it in our homes. *I say “recreate” because my purpose with this series is to help you pinpoint exactly why you are drawn to certain images and give you ideas on how to bring that feeling into your house. I’m never trying to rip off another designers work! I’m hoping to help you take an inspiration image and make it your own!
1. The table style is crucial- stick with a traditional piece with simple lines. The 4 legs versus a trestle base gives us a great traditional foundation!
2. The tone of the wood is also key. Find a table that has a warm, light, natural finish. That will translate into a warm and organic feeling room!
3. Skip the solid upholstered chairs for something with pattern. Bonus points for finding a pattern that is subdued like this one. You’re not looking for a show-stopper, just a simple neutral layer to the room.
4. Bring in a teeny bit of contrast with black light fixtures. Choose pieces that feel light and airy but with some metal/iron detail. Stay away from anything overly ornate or heavy!
5. In Patrick’s version the room had beautiful built-ins which are not always an option BUT finding a great storage piece is! You could go for a creamy china cabinet or make this your own by choosing something that carry’s on the earthy vibe. Maybe that’s more wood or an antique metal piece. 6. Like we learned last time (11 posts back) simplicity is a good thing. Simple greenery, stacked glass dishes, and a soothing color palette is how to achieve the perfect backdrop!

- Choose one piece to give the room presence. A solid dark piece next to all the light helps the room not feel too fluffy.

- Choose accent pieces- lighting, hardware, and rugs- that add personality through texture.
