💭: I am so grateful to have been able to read this early. Being back in a world Jessa created was truly like coming home. It was awesome to have this book be based in South Carolina and even got a little Charleston and Sullivan’s Island name drop. The vibes were very much White Lotus family dynamics meets Southern Charm. In true Jessa fashion, she gives us gorgeous metaphors and handles complex and emotional topics with care but realistically. It was fun getting little tiny mentions of the Magnolia Parks universe, too. And, dare I say it, Georgia may be my most favorite FMC she’s written. A very close tie to the beloved Magnolia. I laughed. I cried. I felt fulfilled at the end.

And for me, Jessa is one of the very few authors who really is able to write about grief in such a realistic way. I’ve always found myself straying from the common platitudes because I just couldn’t relate. How grief is dealt with in this book felt real and raw and I read this book truly at a time I needed it the most.

💭I loved every single second of this book. I ready this book a couple weeks after my husband passed away, and yes, maybe I should have heeded some of the trigger warnings. As a fresh widow still in the absolute throes of grief most days, this book might not have been the obvious choice to read but it ended up becoming pretty therapeutic (and it was just really good).

The basic premise is one day the entire world receives a box with a string inside & the string length determines how long you will live (the book follows 8 different people when this happens). The boxes can’t be destroyed, but you can choose not to look. That’s as much as I will say about the actual storyline of the book because I don’t want to spoil it. *This means I think you should go read it*

This book was thought provoking and honestly I binged it in 48 hours. The audio is done by the QUEEN Julia Whelan so I highly recommend it that way.
