Dresser reveal ✨

I was so disappointed when I discovered I couldn’t seal these pieces to show off the natural wood tone. Different wood tones makes that a little hard! So I pivoted last minute and decided to paint them with @sherwinwillams Emerald Urethane Trim paint in Homberg Gray. I have to say I LOVE how they turned out.

Paintable wall plates are a GAME CHANGER! I have painted regular wall plates and now paintable ones and the paintable ones are worth every penny. I even got some extras so I can replace ones that have chipped 🙌🏻

Covered in dust but I pulled together these shelves in about a day to make my dad’s closet work better for him.

The best part about this entire project? The only thing I bought for it was adhesive to fix the flooring where a set of drawers used to be 🙌🏻 everything else was already on hand, scrap from other projects or from taking out my grandparent’s old closets.

✨✨Closet is installed ✨✨

I’ve been working on this this space for almost a month now. I’ve had to make some major changes to it, wait for other parts of the renovation to be done to install it, and spent and entire day today getting it in! And I couldn’t have done it without help from my family, this truly has been a labor of love.

And don’t worry, it’s not done yet! I still need to install the shelves, drawers and closet rods, add a face frame and then the cabinet guy will add doors 🤪

A coat of paint, some doors and gold hardware go a really long way! You’d never know this was our 5 year old IKEA Kallax bookshelf ✨ I really went out of my comfort zone going with black but I couldn’t love it more!

There were definitely some hiccups with this project. I desperately wanted concealed hinges on these doors. Learn from me and don’t attempt to put concealed hinges on your Kallax shelf 🤦🏼‍♀️ but now I know a whole lot about hinges so there is an upside somewhere!

Bar shelves are done ✨✨

I had a crazy idea back in May to get more use out of our 9.5 foot bar that’s too tall to comfortably sit at. We had four bar stools that I loved but no one EVER sat here and it just became a catch all for toys, tools and scrap wood. There were things under it and on top of it. Swipe all the way to the end to see the before (staged for pictures 😂)

But one day, browsing Pinterest I saw a kitchen island with shelves and the light bulb went on! I knew I could make shelves that looked intentional but would also be more functional than what we currently had. I learned some new skills along the way and created something I am so proud of.

We still have space for two bar stools, I can easily access my binders and Jackie’s toys and books are all right within reach 🙌🏻 the bins on the top shelves were #gifted from @sortjoy and they are incredible!

I finally finished the laundry room! Can you spot what I did?

I added curtains to Jackie’s bed and took off the gate! We have been practicing staying in bed with Jackie for weeks, opening the gate at night after she falls asleep so she can come get us in the mornings. We weren’t 100% sure we needed the curtains but after the first night of going to sleep with the gate open and Jackie hiding under her covers until she fell asleep, we talked to her and came to the conclusion that the curtains would help. She can come and go as she pleases but also feels enclosed and safe!

To be honest, I took a huge risk with the dark green. This was so out of my comfort zone and I wasn’t 100% convinced I loved it until I was done and I had put all of the furniture back. Turns out I’m obsessed!

I did this project in 4 days (working most of the day Friday and nights the rest of the time) because I had to tight timeline to get it done! Alex was out of town for the weekend and it was my only chance to do this room since it’s also his office 😂 he is back home and can get back to work in the morning like nothing happened 🙌🏻

Last week my cousin came and did a painted on “wallpaper” look on the shiplap side of the laundry room and I finished off the table. Remember the table can be removed so that the washer & dryer can be serviced!

The laundry room built ins are done! I’m pretty excited about utilizing all of this space now! I always wanted a blue laundry room so I was really excited when I found this color. Color is @benjaminmoore Van Courtland Blue 💙

The built ins may be done but the laundry room is far from it! The shiplap wall with hooks is next! Then a folding table to wrap around the washer and dryer (moveable of course) and a cover for the switch board!

Any time I opened the door to this closet I would get frustrated. There was stuff everywhere and the “shelves” the builder had installed weren’t worth the space (IYKYK). I spent months trying to figure out the best way to utilize this awkward closet, but couldn’t wrap my head around it. Then when my in laws were visiting, @kathyby suggested combining drawers and shelves. 🙌🏻

So here we are, a month later, and it’s done. I can actually walk into this closet and find what I’m looking for. Everything is labeled. Moving one box isn’t like playing a game of Jenga. I even have room to put more stuff in here when I need to 😱 and when it needs to be a clothes closet eventually, it can be that too!

This closet makeover wasn’t all that time consuming (it just took awhile to get the stuff I needed) and was under $150, including the new sets of drawers. I got so many questions about the desk I made for our room!

The old desk we have had since 2014 and I was kind of over it. I decided I had enough scrap wood to make something that fit better in our room and would also meet Alex’s work needs. No plans used here, I just made it up as I went! But I will be making a plan for it, don’t worry!

Master bedroom refresh ✨

After a year, I decided an accent wall just wasn’t cutting it for me. I loved the shiplap but not that only one wall was green. So this last week I took down the curtains & hardware and painted the entire room Benjamin Moore Black Forest Green 💚 I also changed the curtains and hardware so they are long enough now.

My favorite part about the entire thing is the new night stands! I’ve been eyeing these for awhile and we needed bigger night stands. These were under $150 and fit so much stuff!

Play Kitchen is done 🙌🏻

I removed the baseboard around the kitchen, added a few shelves to the cabinets, hung the clock that Jackie made, added the magnet boards & made the table and benches!

Jackie has been playing with the table and benches daily, just like I envisioned 💕 there are tea parties, dinners, restaurants and so much more and it’s only been a few days
