My favorite decor tips and DIYs

Upgrading my bedroom drapery has been on my list for a long time now - I wanted something tailored but that wouldn’t break the bank - enter these Drapeful curtains!

I love the linen look of the fabric and the softness of the blackout lining on the back - it makes them fall really nicely since it’s not too stiff!

The best part is they allow you to customize down to the inch, and select all the details so you get exactly what you want (pleat style, fabric type and color, lining type)

I was dying to get rid of the cheap plastic blinds in my house but was not ready to commit to the cost of custom window treatments - enter these tie up Amazon tie up curtains!

I love the linen beachy look, and they give the perfect amount of light block for a bedroom. I used a tension rod so they are inside mounted and look more tailored!

I recommend these in rooms where you aren’t needing to open and close them often, since it did take some time to get them positioned and tied exactly how I wanted

Both the curtain and rod are linked in my LTK!
Here are a few easy tips to make your bathroom feel high end:
1 - use a refillable glass soap dispenser
2 - get a small tray to hold your soap - I paired mine with greenery, but you could also do a 2nd refillable dispenser for lotion
3 - upgrade your storage - I love these striped canvas totes I found at TJ Maxx - anything to hide clutter in a stylish way!
4 - add a simple floral or eucalyptus
5 - use white linens - these always feel clean and crisp!

Spring is almost here, which means backyard BBQs and outdoor get togethers! Hosting and setting a table can be daunting - but this is a super simple (and affordable!) way to make any table look guest ready in minutes

These are the items you need:
1 - glass containers in a few different shapes
2 - pillar candles (I recommend off white)
3 - small votives (I loved the fluted glass detail on these)
4 - a simple table runner
5 - fresh flowers & and vase!

This is perfect for day or night - all the candles would look beautiful at night for a dinner party!

I’d love to hear some of your tips for hosting below! Items I used here are linked in my LTK

Cafe curtains are a great solution if you’re looking for privacy but still want natural light (like a kitchen or a bathroom!) I put this one together in 10 minutes or less using these 3 items:

- curtain rings with clips (the ones I used are from Amazon and very affordable)

-tension curtain rod (mine is also Amazon! Same brand as the rings)

-premade linen cafe curtain - this one is from Target but there are lots of good options out there

Custom drapery can be very expensive and hanging on your own can seem daunting, but here are a few simple tricks to make drapery look high end at a fraction of the cost:

1 - Use drapery rings and hooks - doing this instead of putting the rod directly through the fabric gives a much nicer look, and they are easier to use this way! Most vendors offer a ring to coordinate with the rod you choose (Amazon is great) - I recommend the eyelet style ring, not the clip

2 - install the rod as close to the ceiling as possible - this will give the impression that your windows are larger & ceilings are higher than they are

3 - extend the rod out longer than the width of the window, so that when they are open they don’t block light. This also helps your windows feel larger and is a better look overall

4 - choose the right material - this depends on what room you are doing - I prefer the look of a sheer linen fabric with some variation in color, and I opt for an off white or soft beige over a stark white (whites can sometimes look cheap with low grade fabrics)

If you need to block light completely for a bedroom, I would stick to these guidelines above, but just make sure there is a blackout lining included!

If you have any other good tips or tricks, let me know in the comments!
Here are a few of my favorite tips of the trade I’ve learned while designing for myself and others on a budget!

1 - Start with some inspiration images - this is always the place to start regardless of budget because it helps you hone in on the style you’re after

2 - Establish an all in budget number and work backward - I would even recommend putting together a spreadsheet with placeholders for each item, so that you can search easily online using price parameters. This also gives you an idea of which retailers will fit within your budget

3 - Utilize Facebook marketplace or other resellers for more expensive items and pieces with character - For larger ticket items like a sofa, this can be your best friend! Finding a sofa with a slipcover OR adding a slipcover can make it good as new (plus the right slipcover is always a great design choice!)

Marketplace and resellers are also the best places to find pieces with character - adding these items is key to good design and make your home feel cozy and lived in. Older furniture is generally higher quality than what is out there now anyway!
Love a mini lamp moment in a kitchen - this one is 25% off today at target - the pleated shade detail is perfection!
