HOW WE SAVED MONEY ON OUR DREAM BATHROOM RENO!

A year ago we decided to renovate our master bath and the transformation is wild! This kind of project isn’t cheap, but I’ll share 5 tips that helped us save big and get the master bathroom of our dreams on a budget!!!

1. Hire a licensed contractor that actually does the work himself. Most of the time when you hire contractors, what you get is project manager with a team of workers. Staff=$$$. You want to minimize the number of people working on your project. Go straight to the expert and cut out the middle man.

2. Find a local surplus store and purchase as a much as you can from them. We went to Seconds and Surplus. It’s a huge warehouse where the builders shop, so you’ll pay cost price for things like toilets, tubs, tile, sink, you name it!

3. Get your finishing touches like light fixture and decorative accessories from Amazon with free shipping! Our designer inspired light fixture, faucets, and light mirrors are all form Amazon! They have the most amazing customer service. One of our mirrors broke in transit and they sent a replacement out right away at no extra cost.

4. Tackle small installations like towel racks and toilet paper holder yourself. This will help save a few hours of labor costs.

5. Be a good client and try to pay in cash when possible, this will go a long way in the negotiation process.
