A simple & pretty set up with so much opportunity. I gathered a few flowers from our yard and laid out, a serving bowl, a couple of ladles, a measuring cup with water, a vase, some droppers, and frozen flower ice letters. He has the option to make flower soup, melt the letters, or make a pretty floral arrangement. Lot's of fine motor skill work to be had!

Dirty Ducks! This play sink with running water is a great way to bring water play indoors. I marked up a few rubber ducks with washable markers and offered 🐝 a scrub brush, soap, cups, and a towel to clean the dirty ducks.

My one year old also had a blast!Stori was mesmerized by the running water and enjoyed splashing around. It was a great opportunity for her to practice cruising as well.

Some benefits of water play are

💧promotes cognitive skills
💧develops fine and gross motor skills

Happy Purim! Purim begins tonight and we’re making noise makers to commemorate the day Esther, the Queen of Persia, saved the Jewish people.

🐝 has struggled using tongs so it has been great to see his hand strength start to build. Tongs are a great tool for kids to use. They help develop strength in the small hand muscles required for pencil grasping and scissor cutting.

🐝 loves everything to do with trains. I saw this as the perfect opportunity to take his lead and teach him about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad. Did you know that not only did she lead 70 people to their freedom, she also cofounded the National Association of Colored Women which demanded equality for African American women? Pretty bad ass if you ask me.

Double double toil and trouble. Witches Brew for breakfast made for a great sensory and STEAM activity!

🅦🅗🅐🅣 🅨🅞🅤'🅛🅛 🅝🅔🅔🅓
Baking Soda
White Vinegar (food coloring is optional. We used green)
2 small jars (one each for vinegar & baking soda)
Bowl or couldron
Smaller bowls for your “ingredients”
Tools of your choice (droppers & tongs are great for fine motor skills development)
Optional: Letter Discs (I use these to incorporate letter recognition)

🅢🅔🅣 🅤🅟
Pour vinegar and food coloring to one of the jars
Pour baking soda into the other jar
I recommend placing a tray under the couldron or bowl to minimize the mess
Lay out your tools. No need to buy crazy tools, just look in your kitchen
Voila! An invitation to play

Have your little one pour the baking soda into the couldron
Encourage them to use the dropper to squeeze vinegar into the couldron and watch the brew bubble
Add ingredients

Today is World Day of Bullying Prevention and we are all about blue to show our support. I was horribly bullied and grew up during a time when it was kind of considered a rite passage. As horrible of an experience as it was, I was able to escape it at the end of the day. Technology has changed that making it even harder for kids to catch a break. National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month is a wonderful opportunity to continue having discussions about bullying and incorporating it into play.
