FAQ: “What & how much of everything did you order?”

Our shelf is 66 1/2“ wide so we ordered 2 end posts, 3 middle posts & 4-16” rails which adds up to a little over 65” of everything…leaving 3/4” open on each end of our shelf.

I knew I wanted to change our kitchen as soon as we looked at buying this builder grade house, but it took 5 years before we could even get up the courage to start on it.

Adding this DIY “Appliance Garage” has given us the clean, not so cluttered look we wanted…as well as deeper storage inside so we can store even more in the upper part of the cabinets 🙌🏻

This cabinet built took some trial & error (mainly with the door as we had to match our existing cabinet doors) but it was all worth it!

*where we live, having an outlet in this cabinet is perfectly fine. Not all countries have the same codes 😊

You don’t have to use a paint sprayer to get a nice finish on cabinets. (I used one to paint our island cabinets, but if you want to touch anything up, it’s a whole process to do so). So, I personally prefer to use an angled brush, a foam roller and self-leveling cabinet/trim paint! Touch-ups are so easy to do if you do it this way 🙌🏻 (we have 3 kids so it’s inevitable touch-ups are going to happen).

It is quite a process: Scuff sand, 2 coats of BIN Shellac primer (with sanding after each coat) & 3 coats of Sherwin Williams Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel (sanding after the first 2 coats). This color is: SW Accessible Beige.

This dropzone wall has been one of our most used areas, budget friendly DIYs!

Utilizing an empty wall to add to, doesn’t cost a lot but can pack the most punch (there’s so much you can do)!

You don’t need all the tools to do simple accent walls either! We only used a miter saw & Brad nailer (you don’t need a garage full of tools to do this project) 🙌🏻

This space took us a weekend to do, very little investment and created a much more functional wall that we use each and every day!

Having a top load washer made me think we wouldn’t be able to add a shelf above it…but we figured it out!

Adding a shelf made this space a bit more functional (as I am only 5’0” so reaching into the cabinet above the washer isn’t the easiest) and added some warmth/texture.

We personally love it and are happy we took the time to figure out how to make it work for us!

We removed our OTR microwave & put a smaller microwave in our pantry!

It is at a much safer height for our kids and myself to use. No more climbing on the counters to use the microwave for them and no more spilling hot food on myself getting it out of the microwave 🙌🏻

This is what works best for US…it may not be for everyone (and that’s okay)! 😉

Our laundry drying rack has been asked about a lot lately!

We bought our drying rack from @amazon years ago and most recently decided to give it a little refresh when we were working on our laundry room!

I love the painted wood frame around it. The harsh metal look isn’t staring you in the face when you enter the room; it is semi-hidden 🙌🏻

Adding faux beams in a few areas of our home has helped add texture and warmth those spaces needed.

We love the look of white oak but there was no way we could afford that so we found a way to give us the look we wanted, at a much more affordable price!

Using Select Pine + our go-to stain combo of Minwax Water-based Pre-Stain/Wood Conditioner, Minwax Simply White, Minwax Provincial & Minwax Polycrylic, we were able to achieve that pretty look!

Save this for later + follow along as we continue to add warmth and custom touches throughout our buildergrade home.
