It’s 3 years today. 🎀 Its 2am and I wake and whisper to myself “I am cancer free” Four words. Four words that mean so much.
They well up inside of me and I become emotional. Because as elated as I am. And I am elated💞As blessed as I am. And I thank God for his love🙏🏻. I know and it weighs heavily, that for some breast cancer survivors this is their last anniversary. It’s bittersweet……
Three years ago a single word changed my world and altered my path. Cancer. Id like to say I never cried or got angry or faltered in my faith or asked “why me” but that wouldn’t be true.
Of course I cried, then I became determined. Got Angry, then I directed the anger towards beating cancer. Asked “why me”, then I say why not me. Faltered in my faith, Then I asked God to take away the fear and he did.
Three years later I am not the same. I’m altered. I’m forever changed.
Now everyday I wake I have a choice. I can look in the mirror and feel despair over the visible signs that Cancer took or I can look in the mirror and love myself, be blessed that Cancer didn’t win, Yes it was a battle. Yes I lost my breast. But Cancer LOST! I WON. So I chose every single day to love myself. Yes I’m altered forever, changed but not by my appearance BUT by my love of life.
My future is uncertain but isn’t everyone’s. What I do know is that maybe one year it might be my last anniversary BUT cancer still wouldn’t have won even then, because I lived my life and didn’t take it for granted.
But for now for this third year I can tell Cancer… F* You! I’m still HERE and I plan on living my best life. Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers, it’s what get me through the tough times😘🙏🏻🎀💞. #nsale
