I have been pretty quiet around here lately, both because of my new job and because I have truly been trying to stay #mutedandlistening to and learning from black voices during the past few weeks. ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

But I finished a little free #IkeaHack right before I started my new job that I wanted to share! I saw @styledbyjemma’s #Ikea play kitchen where she simply halved the backsplash and decorated the back side to allow it to function as a shop, cafe, store, market, etc! I thought it was SUCH a genius way to get so more out of an existing toy, so I was immediately inspired to do our own version of this small hack!

I had already completed the original kitchen makeover for Juniper’s second birthday (which I never shared, so swipe to see the kitchen side and original kitchen), so all I did was cut the faux-marble backsplash in half and use the leftover gifted @photowall_sweden wallpaper from her bedroom on the back side. Then I made a little welcome banner and added a clothes pin so she can make a sign for her current business of choice, and it was complete! 💕🌿

She was SO excited when I surprised her with her “new” shop and it has been almost exclusively functioning as her library ever since, where she uses the red lights of the stove to scan books in her “office!” And my goodness is this girl obsessed with stacking books! Like our whole house is covered in book stacks. Anyone else have a kiddo who loves to stack books as much as read them? 😂🤷🏻‍♀️💕
