We make style simple for everyday women. No matter your age, shape, lifestyle or budget, you deserve to love the way you look.

My posts

All summer long we’re sharing our picks for some Summer Wardrobe Essentials!

This week, it’s all about the swim cover up. This is a great way to make a style statement at the beach or pool–especially if you’re one of those women who would rather lounge poolside instead of getting in!

If it’s been awhile since you leveled up your cover up, make this the summer to grab something stylish.

There are so many great styles out there–from pretty tiered dresses, to flowy gauze pants.. We’ve rounded up some of our favorites– shop the post through our LTK link to check out what we’re loving right now!

What's your favorite style of cover up? Let us know in the comments!

This week, we’re highlighting basic tanks. These simple tops have been layering staples for years, but this season, they’re having a moment all on their own.

They’re great to pair with bold, patterned bottoms, but pairing them with another simple item (like linen wide leg pants) looks so chic and modern.

For a form-fitted look, go for a ribbed fabric. If you don’t want to highlight your shape quite so much, look for a fabric blend that drapes a little. We’ve rounded up some of our favorites– shop the post through our LTK link to check out what we’re loving right now!

Are you embracing basic tanks this summer? If you’ve got a favorite brand, share it in the comments!

This week, it’s all about easy beach sandals.

Those dollar flip flops aren’t great for your feet–or your style, so upgrade to a pair that looks and feels better.

There are so many cute options out there right now, we had a hard time narrowing it down, but shop the post through our LTK link to check out what we’re loving right now!

Have you ditched the dollar flip flops yet?

Give yourself a thumbs up in the comments if you have!!

All summer long we're sharing our favorite picks for Summer Wardrobe Essentials.

This week, it's all about strapless bras.

Summer dresses and tops that show off your shoulders are super cute, but they often require something besides your everyday bras.

To get a strapless bra that doesn’t slip down and sag, make sure it fits properly (go for a professional fitting), and don’t be afraid to invest a little, especially if you’ve got a bigger bust.

When it comes to bras, you get what you pay for!

Check out our picks for great strapless bras for all busts and budgets through the LTK link in our bio.

Happy Summer!

In the comments, raise your hand if you need to get a good strapless. Drop a star if you’ve found one you love!

This week on the podcast, we talked about how to make sure you’re perfectly dressed at the office, no matter what the dress code is.

One of my favorite style tips is, when in doubt, wear dresses! Dresses are one-piece wonders that make it easy to get dressed and look put together in a flash. And, unless they’re too short, tight, or revealing, dresses always look appropriate.

Pair an easy going dress with great shoes and earrings, and you’re good to go. No next-level styling skills required!

Check out our LTK shop to see a few workwear dresses we’re loving right now.

Tell us, do you struggle with what to wear to work?

Last week on the Everyday Style School podcast, I shared tips to make it easy to be perfectly dressed for all the social events the summer season brings. Weddings, showers, graduation parties—they’re all lots of fun, but figuring out what to wear can be tricky!

There are so many pretty dresses out there right now, and this week, we’re highlighting some of our favorite picks so you can be the best-dressed guest no matter what the occasion is! Check out our LTK shop to see what we’re loving right now.

We love a skinny stripe as much as the next person, but this season, we’re loving all the wide stripes out there.

They look fresh and modern, and at the same time, they’re a big nod to the 90’s trends happening right now.

Pick up a wide stripe tee or dress for an easy way to work this trend into your wardrobe.

This week, we’re sharing some of our favorite bold striped pieces in our LTK shop.

Tell us, are you embracing wide stripes, or sticking with the tried-and-true skinny version?
Graphic tees are an easy way to add a little fun to your wardrobe.

You can pair them with a blazer and jeans, or joggers and a hoodie.

They’re the perfect way to add a little pattern to an outfit (especially if you’re a person who doesn’t generally love patterns), and it’s an easy way to make your wardrobe personal.

Pick a graphic tee with colors or patterns you love, your favorite band, or a slogan that’s meaningful to you.

I just bought the Boden tee (links in the LTK shop) that says “Monday”, because that’s my favorite day of the week! The fact that it came in my personal best color was a sign I needed to have it, right?

Tell us, are you a graphic tee kind of gal? If you are, what’s your favorite graphic tee?

BTW, like the outfit? It’s straight out of the Spring 2022 Capsule Guide. Not only do you get ideas for how to wear your Graphic Tee, but our shopping link database also shares hundreds of links to every Capsule piece in all size and budget ranges. This classic shirt is on EVERY “wardrobe essentials” list out there (for a very good reason) but this season, it’s having a moment!

You can dress it up with trousers and heels, or dress it down with jeans and flats–or wear it open over a tank or graphic tee. Or, you can size up and wear it as the perfect beach cover up.

Stick with classic white (or blue stripes) for versatility, or pick a bold pattern or color to give your wardrobe a dose of personality. E

One of the most versatile items in any wardrobe is a striped tee, which is probably why one shows up in just about every Capsule Wardrobe Guide we put together!

You can make dressy items look a little more fun, or add polish to your jeans-and-a-tee uniform. Plus, they’re the key to making pattern mixing effortless.

Whether you choose a classic Breton stripe in neutral colors or a bright color in a beyond basic silhouette, a striped tee will be a piece you’ll reach for again and again.

Convinced you can’t wear stripes? Check out The Everyday Style School episode on Fact Checking Internet Style Advice. You might be pleasantly surprised!

One of my favorite Mini-Trends for Spring 2022 is Tipped Cardigans (also called contrast, or contrast trim cardigans).

I love the slightly retro/collegiate vibe, and they’re an easy way to get a pop of color and personality into your wardrobe.

We’re still talking about closet upgrades and organization! When your closet is a disaster, it’s tough to pull your style together.

Have you ever lost something in your closet? Or knocked over a whole pile of tees just to pull one out?

Situations like these are super common, but are easily avoidable–you just need smart organization tools.

First, if you fold things on closet shelves, you need shelf dividers. You won’t believe how much neater your closet will be, and how many things you WON’T have to re-fold!

Then, if possible, get your small accessories out of bins and boxes. Hang belts and scarves, and store shoes in clear boxes where you can see what you have. When it comes to your closet, out of sight = out of mind–and that means unworn.

If you need to utilize bins, use clear acrylic varieties. Not only will you be able to see what you have, but they make your closet look more luxe.

If your closet resembles an archeological dig site each morning, shop my picks for closet organization in our LTK shop.

Be honest, have you ever lost something in your closet?
All month long we’re talking about closet upgrades and organization.

Remember, if your closet is a disaster, it’s tough to pull your style together.

One thing all high-end closets have in common is great lighting. Not only does it make your space look nice, it makes your closet so much more functional.

If your closet still has the builder-grade light (or no light at all), here are a few tips for upgrading your lighting:

If you have the space for it, nothing makes a closet more Pinterest-worthy than a pretty light fixture! If you choose this option, look for lot of bulbs (at least 3), and no heavy shades/opaque glass. Being able to see your clothes has to come first!

Track lighting is a great option for long, narrow closets, or those with dark corners. That way you can position the lights where you need them.

If your closet doesn’t have any hard-wired lights, there are so many options out there for you! Battery-powered lighting comes in all sizes and shapes to brighten up your space. Even if your closet has overhead lighting, a few puck lights can make your closet look super luxe without spending a lot.

Upgrading your closet lighting is an absolute must–you’ll wonder why you waited so long!

All month long we’re talking about closet upgrades and organization.

Remember, if your closet is a disaster, it’s tough to pull your wardrobe together easily.

Swapping your random hangers for a matching set is the easiest and most inexpensive way to upgrade your closet.

Here are my hanger tips:

Slimline velvet hangers keep your clothes in place and save space in your closet. You can go for a fun pop of color, but if you want your closet to look luxe, go for ivory.

Heavy items and knits need wide, sturdy hangers with more structure and heft- they’ll leave less of an indent on your clothes.

I prefer clips over clamps when it comes to hanging pants and skirts, but If you can’t hang pants long in your closet, look for a wide/padded bar to avoid wrinkles.

On the flip side, it’s time to say goodbye to the following:

Plastic tube hangers. Clothes slide around and get wrinkled or fall off, and they make your closet look extremely disheveled. It’s time for grown-up hangers!

Wire hangers. I hate to sound like Mommy Dearest, but “No more wire hangers!” They also leave terrible marks on your clothes.

“Space Saving” gimmicks. Great in theory, but items get hidden and forgotten–and never worn. Plus, they get really heavy, which is not great if your closet bars and shelves aren’t sturdy.

Rectangle

We’re finishing up our body shape series, and we’ve saved the most challenging for last!

If you’re a Rectangle who struggles to figure out body shape advice, there’s a reason for that. Read on!

Just a reminder, this is absolutely not a complete list of what looks good on each shape!

Also, regardless of what any “fashion” expert on the internet says, you should wear what makes you feel good. There are no “rules”...our goal is to make it easy to find clothes that make you feel fab!

In my experience, rectangles are the easiest to dress, but the hardest to give advice to.

They’re easy to dress because clothes are literally made for rectangles. Almost every retailer uses fit models that are rectangles, meaning rectangles don’t struggle with FIT issues the way a lot of other body shapes do.

However, the Rectangle shape comes in more varieties than any other shape. This shape has been described as “athletic” “boyish” “stocky” and “lanky”. They’re all rectangles, but they’re VERY different.

To find tops that fit and flatter the Rectangle body, follow these 3 tips.

–Create movement. Rectangle bodies are, by definition, straight, so add some movement and dimension with color blocking, asymmetric lines, round/scoop necklines, and details like ruffles. But remember, your body is already balanced, so if you add LOT of drama/volume on top, add some on the bottom, too!

– Move interest off the body. Interesting sleeves can draw the eyes out, and leave you feeling less boxy. Look for flutter sleeves, bishop sleeves, flared sleeves, etc…

–Find your secondary body shape. Rectangles often have a secondary shape, and borrowing the tips and styles from that one may work well for you. Rectangle/Apple and Rectangle/Hourglass are the most common hybrids.

This week, we’re continuing our body shape series with tops and tips for pears!

This is absolutely not a complete list of what looks good on each shape–it’s just a sample, with a few simple tips.

Also, regardless of what any “fashion” expert on the internet says, you should wear what makes you feel good. There are no “rules”...our goal is to make it easy to find clothes that make you feel fab!

The pear body shape is most closely related to the Hourglass-so feel free to borrow some ideas from your body-shape sister! This shape is the OPPOSITE of the Apple, so a good rule of thumb is that things that work for them aren’t great for you.

To find tops that fit and flatter the Pear shaped body easily, follow these 3 tips.

–Bring the eyes up. The current trends were made for pears (lucky you!). Mocknecks, puff shoulders, turtlenecks, ruffles, and bold stripes are all things that will draw the eye up, and balance out your body. I always say that when current trends are made for you, stock up–so don’t feel bad about doing a little bit of extra shopping right now!

–Go shorter. Most of my pear clients came to me in long tops, wanting to hide their hips. It was not a winning strategy. It actually brings the eye down and highlights the parts pears don’t want to show off. Plus, woven tops often pull across the hips and create fit issues. I know it feels scary, but try going for shorter tops that end at high hip.

–Use waist details to your advantage. Not all pears have super well-defined waists. If you do, great! Go for wraps, ties, peplums, etc. However, if your waist isn’t well-defined, try a half-tuck to give your body a little waist definition.

We’re continuing our month of body shape-specific advice, sharing some of our best tips to find tops that work for you!

This is absolutely not a complete list of what looks good on each shape–it’s just a sample, with a few simple tips

Also, regardless of what any “fashion” expert on the internet says, you should wear what makes you feel good.

There are no “rules”...our goal is to make it easy to find clothes that make you feel fab!

This week we’re focusing on the Hourglass. Everyone thinks this shape is the feminine ideal, and hourglasses can wear just about anything.

However, hourglasses will tell you their figure can be challenging to dress, and there are lots of fit issues that come with a curvy body.

To find tops that fit and flatter the Hourglass shaped body easily, follow these 3 tips.

1-Avoid boxy, flowy, oversize styles. Simple knit tops like tees and sweaters are great for hourglasses because they’ll keep your curves defined.

2-Highlight the waist. Use details like wraps, peplums, knots, ties, belts, etc… to keep your waist defined. Hourglasses almost always feel best when they show their shape.

3-If you want to keep your shape defined, but also want to camouflage some midsection “fluff”. look for patterned pieces in silhouettes that still give you a waist. You’d be amazed by what pattern can do!

This week, we’re kicking off a month of body shape-specific advice, sharing some of our best tips to find tops that work for you!

This is absolutely not a complete list of what looks good on each shape–it’s just a sample, with 3 simple tips.

Also, regardless of what any “fashion expert” on the internet says, you should wear what makes you feel good. There are no rules…our goal is to make it easy to find clothes that make you feel fab!

We’re starting with the Apple shape–the least common, and hardest to dress shape out there! The current trends are tough for apples (I speak from experience), because so much of the focus of the current styles is on the shoulders, bust, and midsection–not usually spots Apples want to highlight.

But, like I always say, the great thing about style and fashion right now is that anything you want or need is out there, you just have to find it. You can find tops just about anywhere, you just have to know what to look for.

To find tops that fit and flatter the Apple shaped body easily, follow these 3 tips.

1-Open up the neckline a little bit. Styles like scoop and v-necks are always a good option, but jewel and bateu styles work well, too!

2-Go for drape, not cling. Woven styles like blouses glide over your midsection, and don’t cling, but that doesn’t mean knits are off limits! Look for lighter-weight sweaters that drape, and tees with a bit of rayon or modal that will help them fall away from the body, instead of cling.

3-Keep it simple, sweetheart! Tops without a lot of adornment usually work best for apples, but if you want details, go for dense patterns, or move the interest out to the sleeve, instead of the body.

Don’t know what your body shape is? Take the free quiz on our website to find out.

What’s Your NYE Style?

Will you be celebrating the end of 2021 partying with pals–or will you be ringing in 2022 well-rested?

Truth time–I’ve never been a fan of living it up on New Year’s Eve, and I can’t remember the last time I stayed up long enough to see the clock strike midnight!

In this last Holiday Outfit installment, I want to know–will you be going out, or staying in?

If you’re going out, I want to encourage you to go ALL out!

If ever there was an opportunity to add a little sparkle or shine, this is it!

If you’re staying in, I want to encourage you to wake up to 2022 the kind of woman who wears nice pajamas.

You know how you get to be that woman? By buying nice pajamas.

It really is that simple.

Shop the LTK link in our Bio to see the pieces we’ve shown here, and to see more picks for going out–or staying in!

Since it’s short notice, all of our picks this week have a “buy online, pick up in store” option to save you time.

Tell us–what are your plans for NYE! Bonus points for dropping an emoji!
In my years as a 1-on-1 wardrobe stylist, I saw hundreds of red sweaters and red blouses that were kept because they were the Christmas go-to. This year, switch it up and go green!

Green is definitely having a moment in stores (which makes it easy to find), but it also looks a little more sophisticated than red. Go for a top or dress for easy styling, or a pair of green pants for something more unexpected. If you just want a touch of Christmas cheer in your wardrobe, add a green accessory.

Do you have a go-to red sweater? Are you mixing it up this year and going green? If so, let us know in the comments.

Shop the LTK link in our bio to see all the pieces we’ve shown here, as well as more great green choices!
All dressed up and no place to go? It doesn’t have to be a bad thing!

This week’s Holiday Outfit Inspo is for those who are staying home…either by choice or by chance.

Either way, one way you can make the Holidays feel more special is by dressing with intention in something that makes you feel great, even if you’re not seeing anyone.

Remember, true style is what you do to make yourself feel good, so if you plan on celebrating the holidays from the comfort of your couch (no judgement), pick up a pretty set that makes you feel as special as the day.

Tell us–do you prefer the refined sweater set, or the cozy velour set? There’s no wrong answer!

For the next few weeks, we’re featuring Holiday Outfit Ideas. You’ll see ideas for going out, AND staying home!

This week, we’re all about the statement blouse.

I’m not big on wardrobe “must-haves”, but this is a piece that makes getting dressed for special occasions really easy, so it’s a wardrobe essential for me.

Statement blouses should…make a statement! Don’t be afraid to push the style envelope a little and embrace some drama with ruffles, balloon sleeves or lace.

What I love about statement blouses are that they’re “one and done” outfits.

Grab your favorite ponte pants, simple shoes and a pair of earrings and you’re done. No layering required.

For max utility avoid red, or prints that look overly “holiday”.

That way, you can wear your statement blouse all year round.

Do you have a “grab and go” statement blouse in your closet?

If not, which one above is your favorite? Tell us in the comments!

For the next few weeks, we’re featuring Holiday Outfit Ideas. You’ll see ideas for going out, AND staying home!

This week, we’re loving the slip-dress. This 90’s staple is back, and is perfect for the holidays.

One of our Capsule Members inspired this look last week when she paired a slip dress with a denim jacket. It was amazing, and I knew we had to copy it!

Slip dresses are more versatile (and wearable) than you might think. Sure, you can layer them under a jacket or a cardigan, but you can also throw a crew or turtleneck sweater over the dress and fake a skirt.

OR, you can layer UNDER the dress, with either a tissue-weight or chunky turtleneck. This look had its moment in the ’90s, and you might feel it’s a little young for you, but, done well, this look is super chic and grown-up. The trick is to get the right fit and go for low-contrast layers. Size up for less cling, or to layer a chunkier piece underneath

This is a great way to add a little coverage during the winter, and you can always do opaque tights or tall boots to stay even warmer.

Add sparkly earrings or a fun ring, and you’re good to go!

What are you dressing up for this Holiday season? Tell us in the comments!

A super easy way to make even the most basic outfit pop is with a pair of standout shoes. Like I’ve said a million times, shoes define your style, so as you’re putting together your holiday outfits this year, don’t neglect your feet!

When it comes to dressing up, do you prefer flats or heels?

Comment “this” if flats are your go-to’s.

Comment “that” if you always reach for heels!

Let’s play “This or That”!

Buffalo Plaid and Fair Isle are two patterns full of cozy-season vibes, but which one is YOUR favorite?

Comment “This” if you’re all about Buffalo Plaid

Comment “That” if you’re obsessed with Fair Isle.

I love that we’re seeing both patterns in lots of different colors and scales, as well as silhouettes--there’s truly something out there for every body.

Waffles--not just for breakfast anymore!

One of the trends we’re seeing pop up as we head towards winter is lots of texture, including waffle knit.

I’m a big fan of this one because it's an easy way to give a basic item, like a tee or sweater, a little bit of personality.

We call these things “Beyond Basics” and they’re one way to put a little extra style into your wardrobe without doing any extra work.

Is this a trend you can get behind? Tell us in the comments!

Yay or Nay?

Another big trend for fall is the Shacket.

Part shirt, part jacket, these third pieces are great for creating modern, cozy outfits.

While there are a lot of plaid flannel shackets out there, like we’ve shown, you can also find them in solid colors, and in different fabrics like wool, fleece, and sherpa.

Pair them with a pair of straight-leg jeans and Chelsea boots for an easy, warm fall look.

What do you think of shackets? Have you hopped on the trend yet?

Check out the LTK link in our bio for some of our favorite shacket options!

Leather is a HUGE trend for fall, and a super easy way to wear it is with (faux) leather leggings.

Lots of our Capsule Subscribers were terrified to try them when we put them in a Capsule Guide a few years ago, but now they’re probably one of the all-time favorite items.

Dress them up for the holidays with a festive top, and keep your other accessories simple, or dress them down with a sweatshirt, sneaker boots and a cozy hat.

You’d be amazed at all the ways you can wear them, and how much style they’ll add to your wardrobe.

How would you style a pair of faux leather leggings?

A basic camel sweater is a versatile piece in any wardrobe. You can dress it up or down, but we love it paired with jeans.

Which look is your favorite?
Relaxed with Chelsea Boots
Ivory skinnies and retro sneakers
Or
