Wear it Well! 💃

By experimentingwithdecor

Your overdressed Tía sharing midsize outfit inspo to style your life beautifully and on a budget!

Okay, I HAD to see this one for myself 😅✨

You know when you’re scrolling Macy’s and see that stunning red dress that looks like it was made for date night, Christmas parties, and basically every “main-character moment” ever? 💃 Well, I ordered it — the Scuba Off-The-Shoulder Belted Dress (size 16) — and let’s just say… she did not disappoint. 👀

I’m 5’0”, a DDD bust, and a size 10/12 girlie, so I never really know how these styles will land on me. On the model? Perfect. On me? Still giving Overdressed Tia energy, but with a little more real-life glam 😍

I paired it with my black pointy-toe heels (the ones with the diamonds ✨ because obviously) and honestly? I’m obsessed. It’s classy, it’s bold, and it hugs in all the right places without showing the apron belly. 💃

💬 Tell me — do you think this is a holiday-party YES or too much for date night?

Experimentingwithdecor is in her long skirt era… but not for the reason you might think. 💭👗

Growing up in a very religious (Pentecostal) home, wearing long skirts wasn’t just a style choice — it was a requirement.
To school, to the playground, to church… skirts only. No exceptions.
As a little girl who loved to run, jump, and play, it was frustrating. Always pulling my skirt down or adjusting it made me feel restricted — and honestly, over time, I started to resent the idea of long skirts altogether.

For years, I associated them with religious pressure, not personal expression.
But here’s the shift: as I grew in my walk with Christ — through prayer, reading Scripture, and truly learning about who He is — I realized something powerful.

👉 A long skirt is just a long skirt.
It doesn’t make me more holy.
It doesn’t define my relationship with God.
And it doesn’t showcase my faith more than my actions ever could.

I still choose to dress modestly most days, but not to prove anything to anyone.
I don’t dress to check off a religious box — I dress to feel like me.
Because true faith is not worn, it’s lived.

✨ “People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
— 1 Samuel 16:7

So now? I wear the skirt if I like the skirt. I wear it because I feel confident, comfortable, and cute — not because I have something to prove.
Modesty is no longer a rule for me… it’s just a reflection of how I feel most like myself. 🤍

Were there pieces of clothing you were raised to believe were “right” or “wrong”?

Midsize. Petite. And making it work every way possible. 👏🏽”
I used to think you had to be tall or super slim to wear certain pieces… until I started styling for my body.
This skirt? Dressed up or down, it works for me.
And if you’re midsize and petite, it can work for YOU too.

Don’t wait to be a different size.
Wear the thing. Try the look. Love how you feel. 💃🏽

This look is proof that wide leg jeans can work on a 5’0” frame—when styled right! I paired these high-rise, relaxed fit jeans with a fitted knit top to balance proportions and accentuate the waist. A studded belt and minimal heels gave me just the right amount of polish (and height!).

Perfect for: casual days, mom-on-the-go, weekend errands or lunch dates.

Wearing size L top and size 12 jeans.
