When I was younger, my mom used to hire someone to climb our giant coconut tree in our backyard. I always admired how fast he would get up there, barely breaking a sweat. Then he would literally make it rain coconut. I'd always dash to the kitchen to avoid getting hit by one. Then we would stack them up, crack them open, drink their sweet juice, and make all kinds of delicious things with them, including "dous" (sweets). ⠀

This coconut is not from my childhood coconut treet. It's from the fruit section at my local grocery store. It sat on a bed of shaved ice under a sign that read, "SWEET YOUNG COCONUT."⠀
