The dining pendant is up! 💃🏼 So glad we went with the large! If you’ve been following along in stories, you saw my inner turmoil deciding between the “small” and “large” pendant. I have to say, all of your input was immensely helpful! So many messages gave me the confidence I needed to go with the large, and I’m so glad we did! The large was definitely the right choice. It makes the dining room feel more distinct and interesting. It’s the texture and dimension this space needed! Now, imagine board and batten about 3/4 up the wall, painted a soft beige. That’s our next project (if we can find any shiplap in stock around here!😅)

This is our first time decorating for Christmas in 4 years! We’ve been renovating each year during this time. We did “sort of” decorate while renovating the EGR condo...we put the base of our fake, unlit Christmas tree in a paper towel tube, and then leaned it in a corner in the bedroom (which was the only room with flooring). It was pretty sad. 😂 Having a space to hang some wreaths feels like quite the luxury! I had been storing these wreaths for years after buying them on sale just after Christmas. They feel like they were meant for this kitchen ❤️

Moving 5 times in 4 years, we've spent nearly half our marriage living in the midst of a renovation or couch surfing at the homes of family or friends. Prior to moving to the Lakehouse, we slept on a mattress on the floor of the unfinished GR condo. The bedroom windows were covered with t-shirts by way of painter's tape, which believe it or not, didn't block much of the light coming from the street lamp just outside the window. Needless to say, we didn't sleep well for months on end. After years of not-so-ideal sleeping situations, we decided that we were going to make the lakehouse bedroom the most comfortable, sleep-inducing oasis of all time! We found the BEST linen bedding, coziest chunky blanket, and the darkest blackout curtains of all time. Head to the blog post for all the details!

Ty hates when I photograph the bathroom because I always replace his ugly shampoo and soap bottles with pretty, more decorative ones. 😂 Typically, he realizes this mid-shower and yells for me to bring back his shampoo! Sorry @tyjansma_realtor, but this tile deserves to be seen! 💁🏼‍♀️ So glad we decided to go with parquet in here...it adds some fun texture! You may also notice the trim around the niches. This is a white, metal trim by @Schlutersystems which I generally prefer to bulky tile bullnose! I feel as though it much cleaner than a traditional bullnose. My love for this light blue tile has only grown since moving in...I’m itching to incorporate some more color in the house!

My 2 year old money tree is going strong 💪🏼 (aside form the fact that it hasn’t produced any $$ yet 🤔). This wood bowl is the perfect vessel for our ever abundant stash of avocados. We make avocado toast nearly every single morning, and it’s a highlight of each day. Basic, I know. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m itching to try making homemade bread in the Dutch oven (I have become attached at the hip to my Dutch oven this season!) Something about this kitchen has made me spent much more time cooking than ever before. Old Hannah would have never put actual effort into breakfast...no more than grabbing a granola bar, much less making bread from scratch! It could be all of the natural light in this space, or my favorite @kitchenaidusa appliances? Or, maybe it’s simply living out in Holland! We ate out so much more living in GR. We’ve embraced a homebody life here in Holland, and I’m loving it. 🏡 Ty is too...he wants to keep this new toast-making, cobbler-baking wife around! We’ll see if this Martha Stewart phase lasts. 😂 Send your fav bread recipes!!

This morning, we woke up early to bike to the beach for a short walk before work. This evening, we took the kayaks out on the lake just before sunset! We’ve been “sprinting” to the finish line, eager to get this house done. That said, we haven’t spent much time exploring our new neighborhood! Today we were reminded of why we bought this fixer upper and committed to a life of chaos for 6 months (after JUST completing the GR condo renovation).😅 If y’all remember, we bought this house rather impulsivity. We had not been looking for another house, whatsoever. We happened to see this fixer upper online, drove by, and immediately became attached. 😂 We bought it on a whim. That said, we’re very thankful to feel peace about that last minute decision - you better believe we questioned oursleves many, many times! That’s 28th tube of caulk really for me wondering! 😂 This outdoor lifestyle is one that fits. We feel like we are exactly where we are suppose to be. Looking forward to the summer ahead! Here’s a peek at our bedroom progress! I promise I have 10394892 blog posts coming!!

This weekend we hung curtains and it feels so good! I It’s truly amazing how much curtains can make a space so much cozier. Admiring the early morning sunshine today, softened by the linen drapes. 🤍 The morning is truly my favorite time of day (much to Ty’s chagrin...he likes to sleep in until 8 after many years getting up super early to teach). This morning I went for a short run along the water. It was a brisk 59 degrees which is my favorite running weather! 🙏🏼

We ordered a new rug for the living room months ago....it finally arrived and I am IN LOVE! Totally worth the wait. 🙌🏻 It brightens up the space, and it is more proportional to the size of the room (compared to the previous rug).
