I feel like Claire, Darling was severely underrated! This was such a fun read, and I liked the bouncing between timelines from when Claire met Noah, to present day, to the flashbacks of Claire‘s past with her insanely narcissistic mother.

Without giving too much away, I loved watching everything unravel toward the end of the book. And speaking of the ending: how delightful! I would love to see a sequel to this twisty, psychological thriller😉

This was a very short book, and a quick read. There wasn’t too much “backstory”, we jumped right into the action — which is my fave type of story!

A solid 4 star read!!

Ok Natali Simmonds, I see you. While My Baby Sleeps reminded me a lot of The New Mother by Nora Murphy - the beginning so much so, that I assumed it was going to have the same ending. I thought this was so going to be *so* predictable from the third or fourth chapter. My smug, little reader self was ready to give this a three star review for being a “good story, but I played out plotline”

WELL.

Simmonds sure showed me - first, by proving me wrong, then giving me a happy ending, and THEN PULLING THE RUG OUT FROM UNDER ME. In the best way.

Lou just moved and has a baby, she’s not sleeping well, and her baby-daddy/partner is picking up more hours at work. Days begin blending together and the tip of the iceberg is when Lou finds out she’s pregnant again. We all know what a lack of sleep can do, and Simmonds handled Lou’s slip in to madness and battle with post partum depression/anxiety/psychosis so so well.

4.5 stars for this solid psychological thriller with a deep plot and lots of twists 🤌🏻

Deep Fury could easily be an action movie! It had a bit of everything — part suspenseful thriller, part high stakes flight/action, and it even had some humor and a bit of a love story!

The landlady was one of my favorite characters ever - listening to this on audio was fun. I loved her accent and how she spoke/the stories she told. Kissed JFK? No big deal. Ran a marathon? Been there, done that, might as well run for public office. Logan, the main character, was so cocky/arrogant but also likable, it was easy to picture him as some ex-military macho guy.

It was a bit of a slow burn, with all the action culminating into a lackluster scene in the desert… but kudos to the rattlesnake, he’s the real MVP.

The lake of lost girls

Talk about a plot twist!! The Lake of Lost Girls was a twisty, atmospheric thriller that kept me guessing until the end.

Jess is the Apple of her father’s eye, with an overbearing mother. She’s back from college to celebrate her little sisters’ 6th birthday when she suddenly vanishes and is never seen again. This is in the wake of 3 other mysterious disappearances of girls from the college. All cases go cold.

20 years later, Jess’ little sister Lindsey begrudgingly teams up with a journalist named Ryan when a body is found and the internet sleuths and podcasters swoop in as the investigation is reopened.

The dueling time line added to the drama, and we bounced back and forth between Jess in her freshman year, leading up to her disappearance, and Lindsey in present day.

This book will have you pointing fingers at everyone, and the ending gets a chef’s kiss from me! (And also, a major EWWWW🧟‍♀️🫢)
