Today is #worldmentalhealthday. I post every year on this day and it’s something I’ll never stop sharing about. Because even if it only helps ONE person, that’s enough for me. You often hear the phrase “it’s okay not to be okay”, especially on days like today. And it’s SO true. But what does it really mean? It means that even on days when you struggle, even on days when your mental health plagues you and you don’t know why, that it’s OKAY. It doesn’t mean you’re a failure or "just lazy”. I spent so many years not understanding why I had intrusive thoughts, debilitating worry, moments of pure panic, and phases of literally no motivation or energy. It took so long to learn that it didn’t mean I was a failure, it just meant I needed a little extra help sometimes. That’s not always an easy pill to swallow, but I promise once you do, you will feel so free. It’s easy to fear what we don’t understand, but the more we understand about ourselves and our mental health, the more equipped we are to handle it. Never be afraid to ask for help, seek out therapy, talk to your doctor about medication options, or simply just vent to someone close to you. It can make all the difference 🤍 If you struggle with mental health issues, I pray you never feel alone or ashamed. And I pray you always reach out for help when you need it. 🙏🏻
